Roundball Tourney Thread

I would like to remind you that Auburn stands in our way and I wouldn’t overlook them.
If sadgator was ranking/re-seeding the four teams at this point, it would be…

1. Duke
2.Auburn
3. Houston
4. Florida

That isn’t even a joke.

Great job getting there…and it has been a very impressive journey…but it will be astonishing if Florida can advance…at this point, if you’re being honest…you gotta think Florida isn’t likely to win…although they are certainly capable…

Well Vegas has us and Duke as the two favorites to win now, and Auburn as dead last in odds to win Final Four.

If you think we can't win this thing you're mistaken.. We've been playing our worst basketball of the year actually in this tournament and yet we still score in the 80's. If we play how we're actually capable shooting like the Mizzou and Bama games in SECT none of these teams will be able to out gun us not even Duke.. With that said, this could be the greatest Final Four ever in terms of how great the teams are in their own ways, just being in it will be remembered forever and is an honor.. I have been saying since day one that all I wanted was a Final Four opportunity for these kids because they are a special unselfish group like the 04's and they deserved the stage.. Anything more from here in is just cherry on top because it's so hard to get here.. but listening to our players talk, they won't be satisfied without the whole thing in the Alamo Dome. Clayton is on one of those all time heaters for an NCAA Tournament and could very well end up being the MOP of the whole thing... This team is special, and will be remembered forever no matter what.

In other tournament news, Houston is boat racing Junior and Lulu. UT is 1-15 from 3 point land.
I think Tennessee's goal was to beat Kentucky after losing two regular season games to the Cats. They did and forgot to show up for Houston. So they will stay home and watch the rest of the tournament on TV.

I read that Tennessee has never been to a Final Four. Over 100 years of basketball and no Final Four.

I think the Auburn game is about 50/50 going in. Duke looks really good at times but I am curious to see how Houston's defense does against them.

If you are going to rank them, go with the people whose livelihood depends on it (aka Vegas):

1. Duke
2. Florida
3. Houston
4. Auburn

Not saying they can’t. Just saying based on the objective optics of what we have seen in the NCAA tourney, it appears that Florida peaked a little early in the SEC Tourney Final…the other three teams appear to be peaking now…

Will be interesting to see if Florida can recalibrate and get their SEC season form back in the next week…

That will be a tall order…especially considering the emotion that went into that comeback and everything that has followed from it…

Wow! Buzz Williams left Texas A&M for Maryland after 6 seasons. AD Trev Alberts may not have to look far and possibly snag Grant McCasland from Texas Tech.

This is the first time 2 SEC teams will meet in any Final Four game. In the previous 4 times there were 2 SEC teams they were on opposite sides and at least one lost before the championship game. An SEC team did win the championship in 3 of those 4 years though.

What does it say about the state of Texas A&M athletics when a successful coach leaves to go to another program in disarray without an athletic director?

There is something weird about that place…

@TEBOW TIME
Any word on Chris Beard and what they're saying up in Oxford?
To me, Buzz Williams leaving A&M was bit of a surprise to accept the same position at Maryland.

If you ask me, the fan base at College Station have delusional expectations for the hoops program and should have been content with Buzz, and I also heard he may be on the hot seat as next season would have been a make or break season.

How in the heck did Trev Alberts end up the A&M AD? I would have never believed that and didn't realize it until now.

Have not heard anything

I learned this from your post. I thought he was still at Nebraska.
I remember when he fired Frost at Nebraska early in the season. If he would have waited another month. he would have saved them $8 million. Looks like he is still making Trev Alberts moves (aka stupid).

Is it odd that I'm not nervous about this game because we actually made it to the Final Four? Like yea I wanna win the whole thing but just being a part of this Final Four is a part of history all itself and no matter what happens all four teams will be ultimately remembered for their greatness throughout the whole season.. It's like the best 4 kenpom teams ever in a Final Four at the same time

Of course I wasn't nervous about the Uconn Semi-Final in 2014 Final Four either... yikes

Well, that makes sense.

Considering that the 04s were arguably one of the best basketball teams in the history of the sport, our basketball program doesn’t need to prove anything…it has sustained success for years under multiple coaching regimes….

That being said…this year’s team is obviously very very good…they will hang a banner and be remembered fondly…

Whether they are remembered for their “greatness” will be up to them this weekend…

Yep I underestimated UConn that year also going into that game despite them beating us in a road game early in that season. Looking back at it their guard play was really strong during that tournament and we should have known that wasn't a typical #7 seed.

Already the 2nd best Gator team ever in my book to the back to back champs no matter what happens now. A championship would be really nice though.

That and Scottie Wilbekin wasn't healthy for the last two games of that year
