New Story Rivals250 DB Jackson backs off of Florida commitment

Guessing the Flowers commitment didn’t help here either.

You'd have to be beyond incredibly naive to believe anything other than $ is the primary factor for where these kids chose to play. Not judging here. Most come from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. So, as far as Im concerned, oral committments are nice but frankly quite meaningless. Would I rather get the committment, sure, but until all the bids are on the table (and they'll change more than once) .....

This is why I’m much less enthused about prospects having us on a lengthy list of suitors as well as very early verbal commitments..! It’s loyalty on a swivel. I appreciate what Jason does here. Without any doubt he provides the sanest, best researched information of anyone. It’s when we see clear support or consensus, including Jason, of the several genuine insiders here that I start paying serious attention. Meantime, these NIL offers entice kids one way and then another. It’s got to be maddening to be directly involved in recruiting in this era.

If our staff still or later wants Devin Jackson, that’ll be fine. We’re not hurting for talented young corners and safeties.

Perhaps coming from a 1 A school that went rogue last year with transfers, forfeiting their wins (https://highschoolfootballamerica.c...ll-wins-and-banned-from-playoffs-for-2-years/ )the young man is questioning his ability to get playing time. I think he committed to the Gators before Hanks, Stubbs, Hayward, Konanbanny and finally Flowers all committed and signed. So a DB room that looked like a lot of playing time was available went to a room full of competition....just amongst the class of 2025. If he has a great senior year perhaps he will feel like he belongs in that room. Otherwise he might think he won't see the field at Florida. I think another question for him would be where he will play his senior year of HS since First Academy of Orlando is banned from the playoffs this year. If he is as good as advertised I would think a traditional power team in Orlando will make him an offer he can't refuse.
