Richt fired

The firing of the Retch and possible firing of Myles is great for the Gators I'm thinking.

But I'm praying that tennis-sea keeps their Head-BJ around for many more years... :D

Gators will compete for the division for the foreseeable future.
Period.

Will compete for the conference soon enough too.

Back from the abyss.

USA Today

Mark Richt has been fired at Georgia, according to two people with knowledge of the situation who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the move has not been publicly announced. An announcement to make it official is expected today.

Richt is 145-51 at Georgia and has two SEC titles but failed to win the weak East division three years in a row. The Bulldogs finished 9-3 this season but lost the three games that mattered: Alabama, Tennessee and Florida. According to one of the people with knowledge, Georgia players were told that Richt will coach the Bulldogs in their bowl game.

Richt had six top-10 finishes in his first eight seasons but just two over his next seven, prompting questions about whether he could win a championship at Georgia. This automatically becomes one of the most attractive jobs on the market with the potential to cause significant dominoes

Give me Eason, please. Mac, you need this kid, he's a difference maker at QB. He would be THE recruit to turn the tide.

UPDATE:

McGarity: "Richt and I met Sunday morning to discuss the status of our football program and we mutually agreed that he would step down."

UPDATE #2:

McGarity: I know all UGA supporters will look forward to celebrating the successful conclusion of his coaching career at UGA in a bowl game.

LSU looked into the abyss and took a step back. UGA just cannonballed
i agree. LSU actually took a step back with the way they handled Miles. They would have been better off firing him now. Now Miles is on the hot seat and he can't be too happy himself with how things have played out. I bet people are going to negative recruit against LSU now. If Miles doesn't win the SEC in a year or two he's going to get fired. LSU bungled that up BIG TIME!

Think Miles will take another job?

He's coming home.

I bet his agent puts out feelers. However he's not gonna just walk away from the $15M buyout in his contract either. They will have to fire him but he will be more prepared when that time comes.

I hope UGA hires Smart

One wonders if LSU is playing the long game. Piss him off and try to get him to "resign" and move to another opportunity to avoid the severance pay
Very possible. Miles is probably pissed right now too. I can't imagine this ending well for LSU.

He is a good DC, no doubt. But his reputation for shady recruiting practices worry me.
what shady recruiting practices are that? Shannon is actually known to be very disciplined in regards to recruiting and doing it the right way. FWIW Shannon is not known to be a great recruiter. He's actually just an average to good recruiter. His strength is actually coaching and developing players (especially LBers)
