The first time we played them was in the 1974 Sugar Bowl which we lost 13-10 although the refs said that Gator RB Tony Green stepped out of bounds negating a long TD run. A young Keith Jackson was on the microphone. It was the height of the Doug Dickey Wishbone which featured some fine RBs like Jimmy Dubose, Tony Green, Larry Brinson (who had a long career with the Cowboys in the 70s), and James Richards who also had a decent NFL career. Other notable Gators on that team: WRs Lee McGriff and a freshman phenom named Wes Chandler, OL Burton Lawless (who had a long career with the Cowboys as well as Brinson), All-American LB Sammy Green (Seahawks) and the dynamic LB duo of Glenn Cameron (longtime Bengal) and Ralph Ortega (Falcons).
