Good morning, all,
It will be a jam-packed week at Gators Territory, so I wanted to lengthy post with several updates within it.
Below are some latest updates you should be aware of:
- FIVE-STAR DB NOT EXPECTED IN GAINESVILLE THIS WEEKEND
Some of you guys asked about Jacoby Mathews now that he is committed to LSU.
After speaking with multiple sources in recent days, UF is not expected to host the five-star prospect. He had been scheduled to officially visit June 4-6, but that changed shortly after he teamed up with the Tigers. Maybe that changes down the line, but he will not be in Gainesville this weekend. Wesley McGriff and Keiwan Ratliff have been the UF coaches recruiting Mathews.
HERE Is the updates visitors list for June 4.
- CHANGE OF PLANS FOR RIVALS250 RB TARGET
Another prospect who is not officially visiting this weekend is Terrance Gibbs, one of UF's top running back targets; however, the Oviedo (Fla.) native rescheduled his multi-day visit to Gainesville for June 25.
LSU will receive an official visit on June 4 instead, while Tennessee is scheduled for June 18. The second weekend in June is currently empty, so we will see if Gibbs fills that slot as well.
As of today, I still like where the Gators stand, but with additional official visits scheduled, it will be interesting to see how everything plays out.
Florida, LSU, Tennessee, Alabama and Ohio State are in Gibbs' top five.
- TEXAS-BASED RB SCHEDULES OFFICIAL VISIT WITH THE GATORS
Last night, I exchanged messages with Jamarion Miller, who told me he will be officially visiting the Gators. The trip is scheduled for June 11-13.
Miller, a three-star prospect from Tyler (Texas) Legacy, previously took part in a virtual visit and speaks with Greg Knox several times a week. I've been trying to track him down for a few months now, so I'm happy I finally got a hold of him.
Below is what Miller told me in late January after the Gators extended an offer:
"Before and after I received an offer from Florida, the coaches have been in contact with me and wanting us to have a great relationship with each other. Before I got the offer, me and my family have been going to Florida for vacation, so me knowing I have an offer from them means a lot. Now, I have a chance to come and visit the school and know more about the school and actually meet the coaches in person."
Miller recorded 166 caries for 1,631 yards and 20 touchdowns during the 2020 season, averaging 9.8 yards per carry. He reeled in 28 receptions for 464 yards and eight touchdowns as well. CLICK HERE for his junior highlights.
- GATORS COMMIT WILL NOT BE AN OFFICIAL VISITOR THIS WEEKEND
While he still plans to visit, Rivals250 DE Francois Nolton will not be recorded as an official visitor. He told me several times it would be an official visit, but I have been told different. Florida State is making a strong push for him, but as of now, he is "100 percent" committed to the Gators.
- ANOTHER MCPHERSON IS COMING TO TOWN
Alex McPherson, the younger brother of Evan, tells me he is officially visiting the Gators June 18-20. I interviewed him last night, so that will be posted today.
Auburn, Texas A&M and Georgia have secured official visits for the month of June as well. The plan is to reveal his decision sometime in July, so his string of visits will go a long way in his recruitment. Dan Mullen and staffer Shayne Graham are the coaches who speak with McPherson roughly three times a week.
As of today, I think it comes down to Auburn and Florida, but the Tigers might hold the slight edge.
I will be posting several additional updates throughout the day, but these are some of the main headlines right now.
