Only 2 OL have signed so far - Jake Slaughter & Yousef Mugharbil

Florida commits who are NOT signing this week:

OL Adrein Strickland
OL Deyavie Hammond
OL Javonte Gardner

Hammond still working to satisfy admissions standards; don't know academic status of Strickland or Gardner.

Until they sign, or in Issiah Walker's case even after they sign, Jury Still Out on OL class.

4 star defensive lineman Bryce Langston from Ocala Vanguard may sign with LSU over Florida over academic qualifying issues. He committed to the Gators 2 years ago, then decommitted, but was supposedly heading to Gainesville by all projections. I've seen him play and he's excellent - very strong and athletic with a high motor. Here's what Adam Silverstein posted on onlyGators.com a few hours ago:
"Four-star DE Bryce Langston out of Ocala is going to sign with LSU today, according to multiple reports. Langston wanted to play for Florida, but the Gators were not ready to take him early due to his grades and potentially taking a scholarship spot yet not being able to enroll. He's a talented player at a position of need and No. 144 overall. This was a tough decision for UF but definitely one the staff made and not the prospect."

As of 4:30 pm, the LSU board makes no mention of him.

You can only sign 25 as the rule unless you didnt sign 25 the year before then you can make up the difference.I believe that is the rule now

Recruit rankings are only a part of the 'TEAM' formula.
Dan and Todd have coached a whole bunch of 2-3-4 star players up to NFL quality.
To begin with in 2018, they had to just fill massive holes at several positions.
Now they are beginning to recruit better 'quality,' along with still filling in the position holes.

After a decade of coaching futility, it's taking a few years to get back to top quality recruiting.
The holes are now pretty much covered, and so the Top 10 quality is again becoming the standard.
Years 4-5 should better reflect that imo, because the 'Gator Standard' is now back...

How did we lose Charles Montgomery? Check out his highlights. He could wear the #1 on offense.

You might want to go look at his senior season HUDL highlights. This kid is magic with the ball in his hands and we needed him.
These were his stats for his senior season.
In 9 games Montgomery caught 18 passes for 443 yards on the year with 5 touchdowns. He also ran the ball 7 times for 23 yards. He had a bad senior season.
That’s great that you think we needed him but the staff felt differently. The staff moved on. Honestly I can probably put together an impressive HUDL highlight tape. I don’t put much stock into highlight tapes. Everybody/Anybody can put together a tape of their highlights.

I like Mullen, but it is a concern that we can't seem to catch up with Alabama, Georgia and a couple of others in landing consistent 5 star athletes in our class, especially in the trenches. We get good 3 star guys, some 4 stars, and have to develop them, while they get 5 stars every year. I appreciate that we are now a top 10 type team, but we are still not brining in the quality players of 2-4 teams ahead of us.

I am a firm believer that developing talent is just as if not more important than bringing in top flight talent. Kirby is a great example of only recruiting. His lack of development and even managing it has proven inadequate. Saban is the example of being able to do both really well. Until you start handing out cars like Alabama and UGA you should be glad you have a great developer of talent.

If you want those recruits like you are talking about then you have to start going 10-0 or 11-0 and blow teams off the field. You cant play like we have the last 5 games and expect to get the talent level we need. WE have to got to get better defensively. Hell we lose good kids in Florida to Alabama.

I tend to agree with you on the highlight tapes. Me dunking on 5th graders to try out for the NBA makes me look like Lebron

There is a difference in Saban losing out on some 3* recruits from his home state where they know for a fact they will most likely be greyshirted and possibly never see the field, vs him taking 5* players out of the state of Florida which everyone is competing highly for and the in state schools are unable to keep them from leaving Florida. You cannot compare apples to oranges like this.

You cannot compare apples to oranges like this.

First off, star rating come from outsiders, not the coaches.
When Saban attempted to flip Perine and Toney, I'm betting that he didn't see either of them as 3-stars.... 🤓

You want apples to oranges? Okeeey-Dookeeey... ;)

How many D1 recruits does Alabama produce each year?
How many D1 recruits does Florida produce each year?

How may times has Bama been put on NCAA probation for violations?
How many times has Florida been put on NCAA probation for violations?

Are Saban's and Dan's entire staffs the same?
Are the backdoor recruiting moneybags men the same?
Are the SEC Home Offices in Gainesville, or even in Florida?

How about comparing apples and watermelons???

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida coach Dan Mullen knows the questions are coming at this point. Where do you stand with defensive coordinator Todd Grantham? Will he be coaching with you in 2021? Is there anything you can do to fix the defense short of making a coordinator change?

"It’s very easy to point and say, 'Defense bad, we have to change everything,'" Mullen said. "Or you look at what the issues are. It’s like, hey, if my wrist hurts I don’t just cut off my arm. Let’s go figure out what the problem is. If I have to cut my arm I cut my arm, but that’s not where I’m starting. We’ve got to evaluate every aspect of it after the season, see where we’re at and go from there."

So go pound spud and whine some more.....
