Shannon had an interesting response to a question about Florida's support staff at yesterday's media opportunity. Figured it would be good to share:
"It's important to have a great staff, from a standpoint of a big picture. Everybody looks at the coaching staff, but there are intricate parts as far as a coaching staff. We take on different parts in relation to personnel. We got different relation personnel to handle the outside stuff. A lot of times you don't look at the people who talk to the parents all the times. Who helps on recruiting from the aspect of helping guys understand the financial aid. Helping understand the housing apartment. Understand the moving part. Helping take off a load off Mac. As far as doing the stuff for speaking engagements. We take the part of who is going to organize the plane trips. Who is going to organize the bus trips. Those things are big at this point in time. When I first started, you had just one person who does it all. Now, it takes a lot of pressure off of everybody. That's the one thing that we have here. And I keep talking about our staff. I mean our staff is from every operation person in this department, from quality control to the equipment guys to the trainers. Everybody now is in one deal. We're all in it together. We all have fun together. I think that's one part of our success and our team and Coach Mac's vision of what we're trying to get done."
"One thing that makes you understand quality control is their job is to make sure they get information to us. Evaluation part is up mainly to the coaches. The more information that they can give us, the better we are from a standpoint of knowledge of coaches. As far as the overall evaluation process, we still have to do the evaluation process with the nine coaches plus the head coach."
