Maybe Trump finally wanted to have a tweet without the red warning letters underneath.
Because the NYT story was a lie. See @Uniformed_ReRe? Told ya.
They know declaring martial law is an option for Trump. So they are getting out in front of it and claiming that Trump is running it by his advisers and they are begging him not to be that stupid.
So if he DOES ever declare martial law, the spin will be 'OMG Trump is doing it! Everyone has BEGGED him NOT TO BE SO STUPID, but he's doing it anyway!!!"
Politicians will go on the floor of the House and Senate and cite 'media reports' that claim that even his advisers begged him not to BE SO STUPID.

Tn had a tax revolt in the early 2000s. I was there. Mostly peaceful but the large crowds intimidated the legislature (democrat at the time) in to dropping it. There were more than one protest and they even tried to sneak stuff through on a weekend. After being thwarted multiple times the pub gubner who reneged on his opposition and the dem legislature were flipped . Later the gub flipped back GOP and has been since. TN had a gray area concerning the income tax with previous courts saying it was excluded. But the people of the Great State of Tennessee passed a constitutional amendment banning it outright.
We would have never gone "french." Today times, people and circumstances are different. But I am NOT surprised he has called for a rally on the 6th and am putting my prediction out there because if millions show up pissed, it would not take much to ignite a flame. This is what I have been hinting at for a couple of weeks.
