One of the greatest sports records was broken today by Alex Ovechkin who scored goal number 895 of his career against the New York Islanders. It is one of those records that most believed would never be broken after Wayne Gretzky set the mark. But Ovechkin not only broke it but has a chance to obliterate it if he keeps playing for a couple of more years.
