Offensive Guru: Will Grier Edition

Shannon's defense held both LSU and aTm to under 20 pts,,, just terrible, so fire his azz...

S Jeawon Taylor So *** in his 1st start had 4 Tkls and an interception.
Terrible, so bench him and send him back down to the scout team...

You don't like what Shannon did Fev? I'm okay with that, you've entitled to your opinions. --- Then what would you have done instead, and with whom??? o_O

In non cover 2 situations I would have had Dawson on that WR for sure - every snap.

Dawson gets beat at least once in nearly every game. He's slow and he periodically gets lost on where he is and who he's covering imo.
I didn't want him as a starting CB for 2017. I would have left him at Nickle and backup CB or played him a safety after Harris went down, but Shannon put him at starting CB. He's a good guy and a Sr, but he's only an average CB, nothing special imo, --- but fan opinions vary.

I don't recall anyone claiming that Grier wasn't a good QB.
I was on his bandwagon from his HS days. Things change.
Just being a good athlete is not all that it takes to be a quality Gator.

I want Gators to be Student/athletes and hopefully 4.0 citizens too.

PED Grier didn't hold up his end of the deal, and then he (and/or his father) made demands on the outcome, after his own self-induced FU. Bub-bye butthead....

The 'Grier demanded to start' BS doesn't even hold up under scrutiny. Why would he need to demand to reclaim a job he had already won? And by then there was already talk of Treon having discussed moving positions with the staff. So who exactly stood in his way of getting his job back? The bum LDR or a true freshman? What makes the claim more ridiculous is that every school Grier looked at after leaving UF had better depth charts than we did. Every. Single. One. Ohio St. finished #2 for him and they had JT Barrett and Cardale Jones on their roster with more stud recruits coming in.

Mac pushed him out because he wanted his pet LDR to start the next year, just like he wanted him to when he petitioned to have him eligible right away.

The Mc-Nuss major PUBAR imo is their choices at QB.
For 2017, they should have been All-In on these 3 roster QB's.
Franks - Trask - Allen

That mistake in choices may very well end up being their downfall.
People are free to make their 'choices' but they are not free of the 'consequences' that their 'choices' bring on them....

Muschamp's major downfall imo was his inability to get a good OC and then let him run the offense.

McElwain's major downfall imo, is in his choice in OC, and in staying with him in the face of poor performance. His minor downfall is in all of the many mostly unrelated problems, both with injuries and off the field.

Me, I'd fire Nuss and give Mc one more year, but then I'd have given the musclecramp one more year to get it going...

In my way of thinking, if you don't give a coach 4-5 years, barring a major team melt-down, NCAA problems, etc, then the AD should be fired along with the coach that he hired. o_O
