I was lucky enough to attend the NSD Party tonight. While we are disappointed we didn't land the "big 3", this staff is very impressive. BN is very articulate, intent and detailed. Going forward the staff will focus on players that are within a 4-hour plane ride, previous relationship to the staff (recruited previously, parents played ball with a member of the staff) or have connections to the university (family members attended UF or grew up a fan). I thought the 4-hour plane ride concept was strange until he explained in further detail.. the 4-hour plan is due to the fact that he can always see a minimum of 2 players per day regardless of which direction they are in. BN's "army" was there as well and when you see this group in person, it's something to be excited about. The staff is diversified in several aspects (race, origin, former NFL players, former NCAA players, guys who never played organized ball but are superb at analytics. One thing jumped out at me that they all have in common, they all mentioned talent acquisitions and recruiting. On to specific coaches that I had the chance to speak with.
Corey Raymond- McClain, Tony Mitchell and Harris will be at the top of his board. McClain is physically everything you could ask for in a corner. Harris is a "dog on the field and has "island corner" confidence.
Juluke- loves Baxter, Young, Singleton and Webb. We spoke for about 30 min off and on, super cool guy who loves to recruit. He provided the story on Citizen going to Miami as well, I don't feel comfortable going into detail, but this wasn't a "miss". This guy was my favorite!
KC- seems to be an introvert but we did discuss Tyler Williams and RC, they seem to be very high on his board.
Mike P- simply put he couldn't be happier to be home! Bowles and Howard will be 2 that he focuses on. Malik Bryant as well but that will be shared with Spence and PT.
Spence- one word describes this guy, "energy"! I think he will recruit well with his personality. He mentioned Keeley, Leblanc and Walker as guys he will pursue.
Sale & Stapleton- they are both very aware of Shanahan, Kirkland, Wedin and Kinsler. Stapleton wasn't much of a talker; Sale was great to speak with, very involved in the conversation. I believe he will do well on the trail.
Peagler- very detailed when breaking down the signees and seems to have off the chart's knowledge of the game as whole. He was excited about the player that hasn't announced yet!
Cheney- very upset around 4:45 today and "was still trying to figure out what went wrong with HP4". When Bryant was mentioned, he said "me and Kamari are on him bro"
Katie Turner- full of energy and I can see why recruits love her.
A lot of this stuff are my opinions, but I hope it gives you some insight into the staff. If I think of anything else, I will add to the post.
