This story comes from the father of a recruit (link to article below). Brian Kelly was on an in-home visit with a recruit when he excused himself to answer a phone call. During that phone call Kelly accepted the job at LSU. When he came back from the phone call he ate dinner with the recruit and his family and spent the next 90 minutes pretending like he was still the coach at Notre Dame. Then he left the house and ghosted the family.
He could have chosen to be honest and explained that the news was going to be public as soon as he left. He could have told them that Notre Dame was still a great school even though he wasn't going to be there. Basically, he could have chosen to be honest with the family that was feeding him dinner and asking for his guidance. Instead, he chose to be Brian Kelly.
