You're so completely ignorant on this, it's actually breathtaking. Woke goes back the '40's and has its roots in the anti-racism movement.
Both the left and the right agree that current gender ideology is a direct result of the push for a new reinvigorated version of woke, which now applies more broadly to all social justice issues. It started in far-left academia and has now spread into the mainstream culture. It is a spin off of Critical Theory and is part of the cultural shift being imposed on all of us.
Have you ever wondered why we went from "let us do what we want in the privacy of our bedrooms" to "it's violence to not use ze/zem pronouns when you address me"? (and more importantly, do you understand the implication of that distinction?)
That's a direct result of the push from academia to popular/mainstream culture and it's all part of the same critical theory movement to redefine and reshape our culture - they change the meaning of words, what's acceptable and not acceptable in how we address each other, what is and isn't considered acceptable in different areas of our lives, and it's used a tool to categorize and marginalize those who resist it.
And it's being pushed and supported by the party you support. So if you keep voting the way you do you need to stop complaining.
There's a ton to read and learn here, you should do some research.
The “woke” concept peaked on the back of the Black Lives Matter movement, then became a marketing trend. Now being woke is tricky territory.
