Nebraska has brains

I don’t get why you guys dislike McConnell so much. He seems effective at blocking democratic bills. And I still say that he is the main reason why you got three conservatives added to SCOTUS.

His work on the SCOTUS was masterful and many thanks to him. However, those achievements notwithstanding...he can be an unmitigated pain in the arse and oftentimes at the expense of those he represents.

I think for the vast majority in the streets with BLM, it was actually about brutality and racism, whether I agree with them or not.

For the vast majority behind BLM, it was about power and sowing the seeds of discontent.

For antifa, it was 100% about anarchy and socialism or straight up, unadulterated communism.
I agree with this

Wait....now dems are defending McConnell? Thought you guys hated him almost as much as Trump?

Exactly. It's all because Trump hates him but yes, nobody protects Republicans interest more than him.
See? Now they are suddenly defending McConnell. Why? Because Trump supporters are calling him out for turning on Trump.

This is what's so amazing about dems today: They put their politics above all in their lives.

If Trump would have come out as Pro-Abortion and wanting to repeal 2A, every dem in America would have said Roe V Wade had to be overturned immediately, and everyone of them would have immediately bought 5 guns LOL

I will explain it to you. He is for Mitch McConnell...not America. He is a pretend Republican. He, Romney, McCain(formerly) all cut from the same cloth. RINO's. (Republicans in name only)

I don't know if I'd go quite that far but Mitch absolutely puts Mitch first. And when you are counting on him, he's either amazing or absent.

My position on McConnell hasn’t changed. He is a skilled practitioner of Realpolitik. He is what he is.

You, on the other hand, just admitted that you soured on McConnell for "turning on Trump." Your analogies about changing positions therefore apply only to you.

I have never seen anyone engage in blatant projection as much as you. And yet you constantly accuse others of projection. It's like some kind of next-level meta-projection where you are actually projecting your own projection.

Really Kalim? You literally group every person on the right together on hating McConnell because of Trump? That’s a huge jump there.
Polling shows that when Trump started attacking him, his approval within the republican party went down. If you want me to retract all? That's fair. But I definitely believe that reason falls in the majority category.

You've never even hinted at a compliment for McConnell ever here, but as soon as he turns on Trump and blames him for the 'riot' on Jan 6th, suddenly you start defending him to Trump supporters LOL And then @kalimgoodman rushes in to fluff him too, after never doing so previously.

My reason for changing my stance on McConnell is because he made statements that he knows aren't true. Your reason for suddenly defending him is because Trump doesn't like him anymore.

Dems put politics above all in their lives. Perfect example from both of you.

He was widely held as an asshat before Trump ran for president.

Just a note to this discussion.

Florida is growing by a small town per week (900/day = 6,300 Wk) because of the state government that we the citizens of the Republic of Florida have chosen to serve us.

People in mostly blue strangle-hold states are voting with their feet in vast numbers,,, VAST. And many of them are coming to the most free state in the union, and it has America's best Governor.
=====

In Florida for 2020:

New ID requirements:
Limits on drop boxes:
Harder to remain on absentee or early voting list:

Florida counted it's 11+ Million legal votes in 1 day, not weeks or months.
None of my minority relatives and friends said that they had any trouble voting, and the majority of them are regular voters too.

Everyone has easy access to polls, and only Florida citizens can vote.
Every LEGAL vote was received and counted quickly, just as it should be.

In addition to laws relating to voter access, there are bills already filed that would launch reviews of the 2020 election.
(continuing to protect our rights to honest elections)

As soon as he blamed Trump for the riot? That happened a year ago.

And my posting history on McConnell is pretty consistent:

He also openly campainghed against Tea-Party candidates.
Because he's establishment/DC to the core. He hammered through Trump's judges cause he needed Trump's support to win re-election. That's why as soon as he won re-election, he flipped on Trump.

If Trump wins in 2024 then McConnell will retire in 2026. Wait and see.

I also think McConnell approved of Trump's judges and recognized the importance of not having radical politicians wearing black robes on the bench.

And in that post, I am clearly crediting McConnell for "Trump's" SCOTUS appointments.
No, you are clearly trying to paint Trump as an idiot. Here is what you wrote:

Exactly.

Why else would he have released a list of conservative-approved federal judges that he agreed to pick from once president? Do you think Trump has a passion for federal judiciary review? He probably had never even heard of anyone on that list until Mitch McConnell wrote it for him.
You gave the link to your own posts, then attempt to misrepresent what you said to someone who you knew had checked them out.

I swear we have the dumbest trolls on the internet.

My posting history shows that my position on McConnell has been consistent. Yours changed when you realized that he isn’t a Trumper.

As usual, you are projecting your own capriciousness onto others.

Your history is totally consistent. Trump got no credit for the law-abiding judges appointed to the SC under his watch, that was on Mitch. Now that Mitch turned on Trump and his supporters, you are defending him.

Politics is everything to dems. Sadly, it is their religion.

What is radical to you in regards to judges?
In terms of SC justices, it is justices who believe it is their job to rule on how the law SHOULD be written versus how it IS written.

A classic example ie retiring justice Breyer, who was once asked what the 2nd Amendment (right to bear arms) means to him. His response was 'Well it certainly doesn't mean anyone can have a gun on their nightstand!"

Actually, that's exactly what it means. But Breyer is a radical, so he rules on how he WISHES the law was written, versus how it IS.

Or instead of voting down a law as unconstitutional, you change the words written into the law into different words (which made the law now constitutional) because you as Chief Justice KNEW the intent of the people who wrote the law or personally wanted the law upheld.

Radical is different for everyone, that's why I asked. I think Gorsuch/Thomas/Sotomayor are radical.

Sotomayor is just un-smart imo.

Disagree on Thomas and Gorsuch. I understand how the left would view them as radical but those two are rather strict constitutionalists. Too strict making them radicals to the left? I understand the argument, I just disagree.

It's more about them being too political with me but I understand why you think otherwise.
