Brick by brick, this is the house Butch Jones built.
In the SEC, you can’t just recruit, you can’t just motivate and you can’t just be an X and O geek. You’ve got to do it all, or else you have no shot.

What’s happening at Tennessee this season isn’t merely exposing the areas where Jones has come up short over this 3⅔ seasons.Tennessee fans have taken the ride with him from blaming Derek Dooley for the shape of the program to finding hope in the young players Jones had recruited to pumping up Atlanta-or-bust expectations for this season in what looked like an otherwise weak year for the SEC East.

Tennessee, 'after' losing to South Carolina 24-21 and falling to 5-3, the Vols 'chance to' get to Atlanta 'is' a long shot that will require big-time help from Florida — Jones has all but assured his fan base will deem this season a failure!

Now we’re here and nobody in Knoxville seems happy, even though Tennessee football is in a way better place than it was five years ago and Jones is making millions more than he could have dreamed.

But that’s college football, where a fan base that could experience its best season in a decade still feels like a failure.

Georgia: Things have gotten so bad for Kirby Smart in Year 1 that there was a legitimate question whether Georgia would be an underdog next week at Kentucky.Nobody in the Georgia fan base expected miracles, but this is a truly enthusiasm-sucking debut for a coaching staff that had been stylized in the Alabama model but has delivered results closer to Vanderbilt (in fact, it couldn’t even beat Vanderbilt a couple weeks ago).

Not only did Georgia suffer its third consecutive loss to Florida on Saturday, 24-10, but it did so in a practically unwatchable manner that will inspire nobody in its fan base to pay attention or invest emotionally for the home stretch. Georgia isn’t just mediocre; it’s mediocre and boring.
Hear that Georgia recruits?

Lastly,
TOO SHOCKED TO BE MISERABLE
Florida State: There has been plenty to complain about lately in Tallahassee, from the slow starts to the sloppy offensive line play to the puzzling defensive problems in covering deep balls. But following the 37-34 loss to Clemson, they could unite against a new antagonist: ACC officials. “It’s ridiculous,” coach Jimbo Fisher said in a rant that later drew a $20,000 fine from the league office. “You hold coaches accountable, players accountable — hold the dam officials accountable. It’s garbage.”

As Fisher protested the call, officials threw an unsportsmanlike conduct flag on him, which he said was “cowardly, gutless and wrong.” Though Fisher had a point, it also smacked of distraction from the fact that Florida State is 5-3 in a season in which it had the talent to contend for a national title. We’ll see if fans buy it or start grumbling in a way that might make him more interested in taking off for LSU.

Talk about under-performing as a coach. Would any top-level recruit still play for Fischer now?
Dalvin Cook will soon 'graduate' to the NFL and he won't be there to bail out Fischer's poorly prepared FSU teams anytime soon!

Recapping (#23) FSU's losses:
@ Louisville: L 20-63
North Carolina: L 35-37
Clemson: L 34-37

Seminoles have two home losses so far.

MISERABLE, BUT NOT MISERABLE ENOUGH

Miami: The honeymoon for a new coach only lasts as long as he avoids a losing streak. Even NBC political director and noted Miami fan Chuck Todd, whose star shines brightest during election season, took time Saturday to fire off five critical Tweets during and after the Hurricanes’ 30-27 loss at Notre Dame. Among his missives were “listless,“horrendous,” and “frustrating,” and he characterized the playcalling as “atrocious.” So it’s safe to assume the love affair with Mark Richt that raged all spring and summer is now conditional!

Miami has now lost four in a row, and Associated Press reporter Tim Reynolds unearthed the interesting nugget that this was Miami’s first 0-4 October since 1953.

Recapping Miami's 4-game losing streak:
@ Notre Dame: L 27-30
@ Virginia tech: L 16-37
North Carolina: L 13-20
FSU: L 19-20

After reaching a peak #10 ranking this season, it looks like the hurricane fans won't be boasting about 'anytime, anyplace, anywhere' anytime soon!

How awful are the seminoles?
FSU had to come from behind to defeat these same canes!

This past weekend of college football games have been epic.
Why can't Georgia, Tennessee, Miami and FSU lose like this more often? lol!

A semi fan always likes to ask who are Florida's biggest rivals?

Well, here's the answer.
The SEC teams are UF's biggest rivals. Inter state teams can stand behind in line!

#1 Georgia
#2 Tennessee

Miami
SOW!

Only have to wait until Nov. 26 to see if losing to a non-rival bothers you.

I don't care if he is a toothless shitkicker Vol fan, I'd buy him a beer. He seems like good people, and he takes his lumps.
Agreed. He is a lot like may of the Vol fans I have run into when traveling to Knoxville.. Good people in general, win or lose.

Then you've obviously not yet run into the Mad-Dog-dollie.... :D

Hey Insta, what does your misery index look like, after that beat-down yesterday and seeing what LSU is going to do to you all? Kind of interesting what happens when that "top ranked" defense plays an actual offense, isn't it? Tennessee curb-stomped you all, then Arkansas did the same thing.

Probably wish your AD would have not been scared to play LSU while Del Rio was hurt, cause it doesn't look like it will matter. This is the same Arkansas defense that gave up 56 points to Auburn, yet your offense scored 3 and that was ANOTHER gift by the refs, who apparently think the play clock doesn't apply to you all.

I think we should send Mizzou.....that is your punishment for a last place finish in the east.

If Kentucky can beat Tennessee next week than that's the one that could go!
For the team going to the SECC game this year, it will be like the one holding the hot potato!
Alabama will most likely be waiting for them there.

You must be one of the many Tennessee fans suffering from Volsheimeirs, my condolences to you. I know that you guys tend to forget a lot. Florida was winning that game 21-0 before your team came back but only after our back-up QB threw his first and only pick. Without that mistake who knows how the game would have gone. Before that mistake, Florida was winning and "curb-stomping the vols" again. Let me remind you again, after Florida's 11-game winning streak over Tennessee and the easy 21-3 halftime lead, I think we began feeling sorry for the sanity of your fans. Don't worry, Florida will get Tennessee back in Gainesville next season.

Enjoy Tennessee's win over Florida after more than a decade of futility with the Phillip Fulmer/Derrick Dooley/Lane Kiffen/Butch Jones teams. However, your team is currently 2-3 and Florida is still in first place at 4-2 in the SEC-E. You still have loseable games against Kentucky, Missouri and at Vandy.

For all of you miserable ncaa football fans,

;)

"We review...
all the fears and anxiety
...which are so
inherently symptomatic...
...of a losing team.
The mind is a strange thing, men.
We must begin by asking it...
..."What is losing?"

Losing is a disease...
...as contagious as polio.
Losing is a disease...
...as contagious as syphilis.
Losing is a disease...
...as contagious as bubonic plague...
... attacking one...
... but infecting all.
Ah, but curable.

Now, I want you to imagine...
...you are on a ship at sea...
...on a vast...
...calm ocean...
...gently rocking.
Gently rocking.
Gently rocking.
Gently rocking."
