Then I don't see what the big deal is one way or the other. Bully for him.

He specifically said what the big deal was for him.

You shoot a basketball, throw a baseball, catch a football or slap a puck....WGAS what you do with your naughty bits. Just be whatever. If it's a sin, it's between you and your maker.

I don't understand the need to celebrate an athlete for telling us his sexual preference...either way.

Only reason I posted this was because the Predator / Kevin Spacey line was just too good to pass up ...

All the homophobes posting ITT. Shocking.

You keep your sexual preferences to yourself, young man. Unless talking about all the pussy you’ve grabbed. That’s perfectly fine.

I've never understood that.

Then again, I don't have to hide who I am.

Perhaps one day no one will give a shit.

I don't know that I would go as far as saying that no one should GAS but personally I recognize that I can't change people, even if I think I should, and that my best course of action is to simply love someone if I think they're in trouble.

But, ftr, I do think we should get away from bashing or praising people over their sexual preferences.

I don't disagree with your premise but that's a strawman argument.

No one said that he would cause hundreds of cases of the gays
If it's a choice this certainly would help the cause. Of couse the idea that being gay is a choice is so moronic it's hard to fathom.... no offense intended.

The gay guys I have spoken with have said their lives would have been so much easier it they were straight, like night and day easier ...

People who abuse drugs tell me the same thing.

No, I'm not equating drug abuse to homosexuality rather that people do often choose to do things that make their lives more difficult.

I can't imagine anyone , barring severe sexual abuse, choosing to be gay. Or Trans.

Can you imagine people making choices that do in fact make their lives more difficult?

I've run into this debate before. People often choose the harder route...on purpose. I don't pretend to know why. However, simply saying that it's difficult to be gay and ergo no one would actually choose that is a formal fallacy and a non sequitur.

No offense intended, we simply disagree on this point.

I agree that people often make poor choices that ultimately make their lives more difficult, but I do not believe that homosexuality is a matter of choice for the majority of gays. Agree to disagree ...

Hey, good for him. Live and let live.

The thing that makes this noteworthy is that he's the first Predator to come out since Kevin Spacey ...

I think no more of a homosexual than a kleptomaniac. You claim you are conditioned to sin and take no accountability for your actions only rationalization for committing sins.

You are choosing against a biological imperative to procreate, that's why.

Again, this is a non-sequitur.

Also, humans have a biological imperative to survive and avoid pain...and yet....

Humans defy biological imperatives on the reg.

I think the one thing lost in this debate (and it's my fault because I haven't stated it clearly) is that, either by choice or by nature, it does not matter. They are what they are. I don't get to say on their behalf. I don't hate them and I certainly mean them no harm.

I just don't buy in that it isn't a choice simply "because." For some people the lack of an apparent choice makes it easier for them to justify homosexual lifestyles. I don't have to justify their choices. It's absolutely none of my business. I'm charged with loving my brothers and sisters so I do.

Maybe I'm wrong. That's entirely possible. However, my lack of belief in born gay or not is not a judgment or hatred towards those who are gay. It's entirely irrelevant to the discussion imo. Relevant to other discussions? Sure.

The difference between humans and other animals is we have the ability to obey through conscience, morality, and critical thinking. We don't just act on natural urges (it's criminal in society) to get aroused and force another person to have sex. If we just cave to natural urges we are no more civilized than a baboon.

Hmmm, makes you wonder how many cavemen had game with the ladies or if procreation was often non-consensual?
