Not that it matters what I think…but my thoughts are Nick’s concerns were not so with Napier or his vision per se’ (and as Jason has stated Napier wanted Nick in this class), but with the incoming class as a whole. If Nick thought this was going to be a “weak” class and there would be wholessale changes to the team makeup in general…maybe it’s just better to go to one of these other four programs that are recruiting the hell out of him and have been trying for quite some time. Recruits look for a ton of things in the program they choose and a plan to greatness is fantastic, but if it’s going to take years to realize, kids that have 3-4 years to give to a program may not have that much patience and willingness to “gamble“ their career on a guy they’ve known for 60 minutes. Watching guys he’s built relationships with and helped recruit decommit , get pushed out and/or commit to other programs (ala Stewart) takes a toll. Sometimes the easy path shines the brightest and his hard to pass up. Understandable.…it hurts this class and I hate it came to this…but CDM had to go and this is part of the fallout.

Very few plans to turn a business (or program) around are seamless… and none are easy or are executed without personnel casualties. Whoever thought this would just all fall into place was fooling themselves immensely and will have to definitely have to push reset on expectations.

My $.02…trust the process…it’s gonna be a bumpy ride though.
