Must watch: Doering’s got a Touchdown!

For any Gator fan, that play is like when a president gets shot, you know where you where when it happened.

I was watching at a friend's house on PPV and the feed kept going out due to a storm, so we had the radio on. The TV feed came back on for that drive, then went out again just at Danny threw the pass, so had to experience it through Mic's call.

I will never forget this play or this call from Mick.
Holy cow. That video is so well done. Started to tear up watching that….the part where Steve listens to it and just nods…(feels)….

sadgator watched the original game/play from Marino’s in Coconut Grove. Most of the game sucked and the Miami fans were giving us shit about Kentucky the whole game. When that play hit…the Gators in Cocowalk exploded and we all went running out into the middle hugging and jumping. It was an awesome moment. sadgator will never forget that feeling…

Yeah very well done video. Liked the part of Steve, Mick and Chris listening to it.

Actually, one of the best parts of that call is…if you listen closely after Mick say’s “Pumps and fires the ball over the middle” you can here Lee McGriff excitedly shouting in the background “It’s there! it’s there!”

It sounds like somebody says “He’s got Doering”

That game is etched in my brain. I missed it, we were driving back from a conference in Destin, I was in the car with a bunch of obnoxious Noles who refused to put the game on the car radio, so I was using whatever little handheld radio I had in those days to hear the game on my headphones. It was on AM, of course, and being at night it was hard to find a signal out in the boonies of NW Florida. I finally got enough signal to know we were losing before it faded away again, and the POS Noles were laughing and jeering, because I stupidly said we were losing. Should have kept it to myself, LOL. Then I got barely enough signal to kinda hear the last play, all I really heard clearly was DOERING'S GOT A TOUCHDOWN over and over, much to my joy and the Noles' disgust. I have had other moments of great joy in my life (birth of children, etc), but for pure intensity of emotion I don't think anything tops that one.

That’s awesome!

Saw it at Dan Marino's sportsbar in Coconut Grove. Hare Krishnas dancing below the balcony...it was a whole vibe.

Either a joke or we were in the same place at the same time…

Baja Beach club had the hottest beer tub girls on planet earth….

I was there with Homocane and our parents. Krishnas dancing and doing their percussion right below our table.
95% UF fans at the bar. The place went BANANAS.

We must have a had a brush with greatness….

Think the Miami Gator Club met there for games if sadgator is correct…

Don’t remember the Krishnas, but sadgator was pretty lit….

Yes! That is why we were there. My parents were members of the Miami Gator Club and they met at Marinos for games.

Great place...not sure why it went under.

The Grove has some great places. Did you used to go to the HUNGRY SAILOR? Small reggae joint. (Yes, pun intended)

Mick has become more and more a UF fan as the years have gone by.

In the early 1990s, I saw him interviewed and he said it was just a job and he didn't get sad when UF lost....it really bothered me at the time...but Mick has clearly changed.

Hungry Sailor was a great spot. They had a nickle beer night that would kick your ass.

sadgator lived in Coral Gables from ‘93 to ‘96. It was a fun time to be down there with South Beach coming to life and everything…but sadgator admittedly didn’t appreciate and enjoy it as much as he should have….

I worked at Pet Supermarket in the Albertson's shopping center on 13th st at the time and I worked with a cute little blonde named Gina. Chris had a thing for her he'd come hang out near closing couple, three times a week. Really nice guy.

I borrowed an empty keg from that Alberson’s that served as a bar stool for me for like a year, then I turned it in for the deposit.

Losing calls can be alot of fun sometimes.

Listening to Gene PeckerHoff and whoever the other guy is call the last play of the FSU/JSU game is just amazing.
Please don't ever forget his last name, although he is a fellow Forrest alum(Jax).

I wont hate on Gene. Dude is a legit HOF broadcaster.
A UF alum who has talked sh1t about his own alma mater on more than just one occasion. I do agree he is a HOF announcer.
I'm sure Gene nicknamed Crap honso Thorpe "Crow" to save save further embarrassment to Craphonso's name. This also reminds me of Craphonso's teammate, DeCody Fagg.

sadgator lived in an apartment at a place called Ludlam Point. sadgator has a dirty little secret that he rarely discloses, if ever, on this board…and let’s just say it’s the reason why he despises one Florida college institution more than any other entity on the planet earth…

If you ever hung out on South Beach, did you ever go to a small club called “The Spot.” It was just around the corner from Cameo Theater. On nights where it was packed and they were playing funk music, it was as off the hook as any other bar/club sadgator ever visited…

Very rarely do people know what sadgator is talking about when he mentions it…
