Muschamp would likely still be the Gator HC if....

Since his teams have high passing numbers in both yards and completion % I wager he runs a variation of the air raid. Wasn't that what Roper was supposed to be proficient in?

Charlie Strong is getting desperate. He’s on the hot seat at USF so he’s taking a gamble on Bell. Strong has nothing to lose at this point. Bell very well could save Strongs job.

“Bell very well could save Strongs job.”

I agree...I’m a huge Strong fan and think he’s the right person for USF, but he may be too risk averse at times imho. Kerwin will likely have autonomy with the offense, because Charlie doesn’t seem like the type of micromanager that some coaches are.

While I agree the Bell hire could possibly save his job, on the flip side he could also be hiring his replacement.

No Roper ran the QB a lot in his system. It definitely wasn't an air raid like Holgerson and them run. He didn't do it a lot with Driskel because when he tried it early Driskel was getting the reads wrong a lot of the time.

Driskel is the strangest running QB I've bet seen.

Super athletic but very uncertain when to run (yes, he had some big runs) and never really seemed to know where or when to go.

I'll never forget how in junior year he finally ran out of the pocket and instead of running out of bounds 5 yards behind the line, he actually threw it away.

I sent texts and phone calls in utter disbelief that he figured that one out after three years.

Most frustrating dude I've ever seen.

I remember against Bama or one of those other early teams in 14 I think it was twice in like 3 option plays that he failed to make the right move based on what the DE did. Roper seemed to mostly abandon those QB run option plays after that.

Yep he isn't a quick thinker that is for sure. I wonder how long Cincy keeps him around now that they fired that coach finally. I was kind of shocked they picked Driskel up as a rookie after after the 49ers cut him after the pre-season and how poor he played most of those games. He has cut down on the stupid stuff but he has shown he isn't a QB that can push it down the field decent in the NFL. Maybe by playing this year he gets another year or so as a backup but he has enough years in now where they might just give that slot to a rookie to save a few bucks against the salary cap.
