Mullen's offenses have averaged 48th in total offenses over his tenure. That's our answer?

Might as well have hired another defensive guru and hoped he could find a good OC. Well, looks like our new AD wanted mediocrity, and he sure found it with Mullen. At least we didn't grab someone from the Saban tree this time. They went for the Meyer tree instead.

48th sounds pretty damn good to me.....and he should have access to more good athletes.

48th is okay with you? How far we've fallen. Under Spurrier and Meyer we had top 5 offenses routinely. With 50th ranked offenses, we're lucky to average 30 points a game over the season. That means few blowouts and lots of dog fights, even with cupcakes. It's not as bad as where we've been the last 7 years, but nobody should accept bottom 100 offenses. We're experiencing Stockholm syndrome right now when we're thankful for a career mediocre coach coming in with the promise of a top 50 offense.

What were his offenses ranked as OC at UF and Utah?

With what talent? I swear some of y'all have zero perspective. Y'all will brag about how the SEC and the SEC West is the toughest division ever now all of a sudden a consistent top 50 offense with second and third rate recruits against that same competition isn't good enough.

Wake the hell up. The program is a dumpster fire no 'elite' coach is taking the job. But please keep turning your noses up at a guy who's made a historically trash program relevant and is considered one of the brightest young coaches in the country. Of all the candidates left which of them have turned around a program in a Power 5 conference? Yea exactly, crickets.

And list me the best QB in the SEC over say the past 5-6 years?

That’s OVER twice as good as we have been in the same time frare. Imagine if our O was twice as good the last 9 years...... we would have 30-40 more wins man! Think about it!

Exactly. If you want to critique don’t take crap and use it without context. Its a boring hire. But he develops QBs like no one else in the SEC

You knew Prescot and Fitzgerald before they played for Mullen?

Neither one of them had a single other scholarship offer. We need someone who knows how to turnaround a struggling program and develop QB's and these people are turning up their noses at a guy who had done just that for a damn decade straight. Ridiculous.

Gee, ya think he might be able to recruit a little better at UF than miss st? Watch, we will be extremely relevant NEXT YEAR if we are fortunate enough to sign Mullen. plus, he is loyal and would be our guy for a long time if successful

Pretty good. But do you give credit for the OC or the HC? Were those his offenses or Meyer's? If we go by giving credit for the OC, then we have to say that Nuss and Mac were offensive gurus considering what they did at Alabama. The only way to know for sure is what you do as HC.

1. Kelly and Frost wanted nothing to do with us
2. Norvell, Taggert and Strong smell like a Muschamp or McElwain hire. Huge risk reward. Stricklin is not going to play Foleys game
3. We need someone in here that can develop QB's. That was why McElwain was hired in the first place. Mullen can develop QB's
4. Maybe most important is Mullen has the mindset that Gator fans and those in the UAA are not going to be butting in footballs business which is badly needed. If he is indeed announced I would love to see his interactions with Foley in the coming months.

Mullen is a good coach. He develops QBs. He’s not a splashy hire but it’s very very hard to do what he did at a program like Miss St. Need to get him some recruiters on staff and a top notch DC

Not worth 7m a year, if that's an accurate figure. That would make him like the 4th highest paid coach in the country. He's won 10 games once and has won zero championships. For 7k a year you need to hire a guarantee.

Hell, Chip is only getting a little over 4k a year at UCLA. 7k is a ridiculous number, if true.

7K, really? Can anyone confirm? If so, it looks like the AD/UF admins are certainly all in on this hire. Expect him to be around for a while unless he cries wolf about death threats to his players and family.

Mullen might not have been my first choice, but what he's done at state while doing it in a very tough west is impressive. State has no football history and he gets them to a bowl nearly every year

He has a career losing record in the SEC. Uninspiring.

Um, Matt Corral?
If Corral comes to Florida we will look like a new team on offense year 1. Almost any QB is going to do better...Mullen runs an offense that's creative and puts players in space...more open quick throws from the QB. Offensive line is a big problem. Recruiting solves all though...if he recruits well then we will do well.

There are quite a few good QB's available that fits what Mullen wants to do. It won't be an issue.

I was pretty neutral on the Mullen hire but after some of the idiotic posts on this thread I'm all in until he proves otherwise. Some people have no perception of what it's like to coach at Miss. St., and I like the fact that he knows everything about coaching and living here and has worked with our AD before and he's all in

He's proven. He has turned around a perennial loser and has them in a Bowl Game every year, while his QBs have all been the best in the nation.

But enough about McElwain at CSU.

As for the things said about DM in the OP, why don't you take a look at his offense when he was at Florida?

FROM 2005-2008:
W/L- 44-9 ...1st in SEC
PPG- 36.3 ...1st in SEC
Yds. Per Play 6.5 ...1st in SEC
Total QBR 77 ...1st in SEC

"1st" is good last time I checked.

Could the negetive-nellie whiners please turn in your Gator gear, and then go be a fan anywhere else that will follow YOUR opinions and advice on who to hire, and then how they should do their job, that none of you are or will ever be qualified for. o_O

Your old idiot, tiring, annoying, clueless bs needs a break, and so do the real Gator coaches and fans...
