"...A new report out of the Pacific Northwest has tabbed a new destination for former Florida football quarterback Feleipe Franks.

According to Theo Lawson of the Spokesman-Review, Franks could be looking at a transfer to Washington State.

Interestingly enough, one of the main drivers in leading Franks to Pullman — Florida football head coach Dan Mullen.

Mullen, it was reported, could be steering Franks to Washington State because of Cougars’ head coach Mike Leach and his ability to work with and transform quarterbacks (not that Mullen doesn’t have that ability himself).

A source told the Spokesman-Review that Mullen recommended Franks take a deep look at Washington State so he could “get developed by Leach.”

That would be an interesting landing spot.

Can a grad transfer QB practice in the Spring if they aren't attending spring classes? I think he would be better off trying to win the job at Kansas if he is not going to practice in the Spring.

I do see Kansas starts classes later than most schools in the Spring.

Maybe a good offensive mind but not high on the guy...he did a great job at Texas Tech for like a season or two as the HBC but not that great at big program...just my opinion.
Wait, you’re not seriously doubting whether Leach is a great HBC?

Franks at WSU would kick so much ass...sadgator would be rooting for those guys almost as hard as he roots for Florida.

Mike Leach is a little overrated as a head coach IMO. Just being a great offensive mind doesn’t make you a great head coach. He’s maybe had 2-3 really good seasons in his entire career. He’s a pretty decent coach but not some great coach or anything like that.

He’s been coaching long enough by now that if he was so great he’d have a better job than Washington State.

Great? I don't think so...he's never really won much of anything. He's had some good teams and I like the guy, he doesn't pull any punches. Maybe he's better than I think because he's been at smaller programs mainly that almost don't have a chance Nationally but even in those conferences he didn't dominate. Overall he's 139-90....7-8 in bowl games. Not exactly great in my book.

He doesn't have a "better" job because: (a) the whole CJK5H/put CJ's son in toolshed; (b) he doesn't care where he works as long as he can do what he wants; and, (c) he doesn't kiss ass.

Most GREAT coaches don't kiss ass....Meyer, Saban, Spurrier, Bowden, Jimmy Johnson, Dabo...and many others don't kiss ass. Either way like Parcells used to say your record says what kind of team you are. If Leach is doing what he wants and he has about a 60% winning percentage overall and in 8 seasons his winning percentage at Washington State is 54% (55-46...hope my math is right lol) that's not great.

I think Leach has done pretty good for the place he is at. He needs that PAC 12 title however.

Leach does more with less than any coach in the country. He might not be a perfect fit for a “high-profile” D1 gig at a traditional power, but the dude transforms and exceeds expectations in places that don’t have historic success. Leach would be a nightmare to deal with at schools like Arkansas, South Carolina, or Kentucky. It’s just that he’s too weird and eccentric to be commonly accepted...

This is what I think. He'd go 7-5 at Missouri, or at Florida. He's better with the second-tier teams in conference, where his offense will win you a couple games you don't expect. But he's not a complete enough coach to run a big-time program. I'm a big fan of him, though. His offense speaks for itself and has worked its way into the NFL. Also, his advice to the reporter about to get married is an all timer.

Every word of this is spot on!
