Miami Fires Golden

Yeah, I'm done with this line of thinking. We need to commit resources and effort, and if necessary hire a few more coaches with SoFla ties, and start pulling some of these playmakers out of there. Out of state schools pull them out of there, I see no reason why we can't as well.

Right. I'm not saying we should give up in the area and hope Miami gets them all, we absolutely have to pull more guys from there. But we benefit more by Miami being good than we do from them being bad, for the reasons I mentioned. IDK, for some reason we've always been seen as the 'outside' school down there. It's usually Miami vs. FSU for Dade guys and when Miami is bad FSU cleans up, we can't have that happening.

He's a very good recruiter. I don't think he's a good Gameday coach. I also know he's 64 yrs old. I don't think he would be as successful this time around.

I would say he is far away their best option if they want to move towards being the program they were. They may never regain the level they once had, but Butch knows how to lock down the local talent. if oozie is right, then we should really want this to happen.

Again I don't think he is. I think him being 63 yrs old is a bit of an issue. He hasn't even coached since 2010. At the age of 63 how many "good" years are you really going to get out of him and even at that there are no guarantees he would be successful this time around. After a few years schools are going to use his age against him when it comes to recruiting. It happened to Paterno, Bowden and most recently Spurrier. It may be a "quick fix" for Miami but I'm not sure it is a good move for the long term. Just my 2 cents.

I think Davis is a good coach but it's hard to rekindle something from the past, it's just never the same. Kinda like going back to an ex. Some of the good memories are still there and y'all might even have a few good moments, but all the bad moments are still there too lingering. Depends on what they're looking for though. Miami hasn't won 10 games since 2003. Davis could come in, restock them, then hand off to a good coach in 4-5 years. It would definitely make the job more attractive for a top coach. But I don't think he would get them back to winning championships.

They may not have much choice with the money they want to pay. I hear they are getting together some $$ to up it some, but they still will not be able to compete with big boys.

I don't understand all the love for Butch. If Miami wants a Butch so be it. We live in a free country.
