Yes, many had underlying illness but nevertheless they were killed because they caught the virus. It is different than the flu. How do you explain that a 30 yo son of one of my employees, previously healthy just died last week of Covid pneumonia?
I know you are Right-wing so your views are biased but How can you disregard the benefits of the vaccine? Numbers are coming down. You cannot claim herd immunity as we are less than 60% immune and most of that is from the vaccine. I never want a vaccine to be mandated. I do encourage all of my patients to get vaccinated.
I know you have talked down the mask use. I’ve seen no studies showing benefits or detriment of mask use. But I read that areas with mask mandates had less infection rates. Just to say that the virus is too small to be stopped through a mask is not adequate. We do not breathe out just the virus. The virus is breathed out on a particle. On water or mucous. Those particles would mostly be caught be a proper mask.

But you claim I am not following the science. The reason to do controlled studies is to be scientific. You can not base medical recommendations on “my experience.!” You go around maskless and don’t get infected so therefore masks are not needed. You have unprotected sex with multiple partners and don’t get an STD. Therefore no one should use condoms to prevent STDs. You always dtive 90 mph and never had an accident so it is always safe to drive 90 mph. Those are real life examples.

To put it in modern terms, a terrible virus comes along and they stop all the travel from the country it started in to the country that is in master lives in and all the people celebrated because that meant the virus would not come to that country and the Zen master said, “Will see.” And then suddenly the virus makes it to the country of the Zen master and starts to spread all over the place so everybody stays indoors for six weeks to prevent the spread of the virus and everybody shouts some rejoices isn’t that wonderful and there’s in master says, “Will see.” So then the virus infection rate drops and everybody rejoices and goes back to normal life and says isn’t this wonderful and the Zen master says, “Will see. So then everybody is told they have to start wearing mask and The people rejoice because this is going to be a great thing and stop the spread of infection and the Zen master says, “Will see.” So then the infection rate goes up in spite mask mandates and the economy suffers and our children’s education suffers and so they decide to open things back up and finally decide to stop the mandate on mask and everybody rejoices at how wonderful this will be and the Zen master says, “Will see.”

I am embarrassed for you. There is actual real world examples of masks not helping. Real world examples pitting mask mandates in states versus no mask mandates. Infection numbers before and after mandates, where numbers went up. You come on here spewing science, yet have not shown any.

In texas, 10 weeks ago, Gov Abbot lifted all mandates. The Mayor of Houston and Harris county judge chatised him, saying it was a big mistake and numbers were going to go up. I assume, they think much like you. Want to guess what has happened over those 10 weeks?

Well actually has a clearly delineated back in October when I wrote this at 3.5 million deaths out of 8 million people you can blow this off as a map leg. And you can’t compare this to influenza in terms of normal seasonal flu, you would have to compare it to the 1980 flu pandemic do you have something similar, a new novel strain of the virus that the human species is not used to, and by comparison influenza of 1918 was substantially worse than coronavirus killing well over 100 million people back on the worlds population numbered closer to 2 billion.

As always, like I didn’t October, I encourage everybody to follow their local guidelines regarding mask. There is no evidence for the secondary effects of mask that you’re trying to claim that it does.

Just my opinion, of course I do have substantially more direct experience with both types of viruses and the history of medicine and medical plagues than most.

The fact that this is a “small” pandemic does not make it easier for the 3,000,000 (and counting) families who have lose a loved one. To brush it off as a minor blip is just callus. (One on this site called 4,000 deaths a day in India insignificant.) Many thousands are disabled from it and since they are not dead they are not counted. Many hundreds of thousands lost two weeks or more having to be out of work due to the illness. Many on this site decry the economic impact that the restrictions caused. Imagine the impact if the virus had spread unchecked. But it’s just a flu, no worries.
