Marco Rubio Roasted For Complaining About Unfixed Issue In State He’s A Senator Of

Does Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) need a reminder he works in the government?
If so, he should check Twitter. The Florida senator was raked over the coals on Wednesday after he posted a video griping about the gas shortage in South Florida.

“FOUR DAYS and they still can’t figure out how to get enough gasoline to South #Florida,” he tweeted alongside the clip, which didn’t offer any solutions or ideas.
As Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and other commenters noted, “the ‘they’ here is you.’”

“You work in the government,” Ocasio-Cortez added, offering Rubio a list of suggestions. “Like there is no way the Senator doesn’t have the Governor’s phone number. Try calling him! Find out what the problems are! Call the admin! Give people specific updates!”

A US senator, being a legislator, doesn’t have any real power in their home state.

That said, Rubio should probably have anticipated that many people won’t make this distinction.

Senator Rick Scott as former Governor could at least pick up the phone and call DeSantis

The power of legislators is real enough...when they want to act for their constituents
I guess they got around to it on Friday

Sens. Rick Scott, Marco Rubio Send Letter to EPA in Support of Florida’s Request for Temporary Gasoline Waivers

RUBIO, SCOTT REQUEST TEMPORARY WAIVERS TO ADDRESS GASOLINE SHORTAGE IN SOUTH FLORIDA

Due to a historic flooding event on April 12, 2023, the distribution of fuel in South Florida has been obstructed and delayed, causing long lines and frustration among Floridians.

U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Rick Scott (R-FL) sent a letter to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan supporting the immediate approval of the State of Florida’s request for temporary waivers to certain requirements for fuel to prevent additional disruptions to gasoline and fuel supplies.

“Approving these temporary waivers will allow delayed deliveries of non-summertime fuels to reach consumers, and prevent additional cascading impacts on gasoline and fuel supplies in South Florida.

“Not allowing the postponement of these requirements for all requested areas would cause additional long-term disruptions to the distribution of gasoline and other fuels from Port Everglades, as volumes of this on-hand non-summertime fuel would not be usable. This would burden Floridians with cascading price spikes at the pump and shortages of gasoline and other fuels, imposing additional inflationary pressures on Florida families and businesses, and harming Florida’s economy. This would be an unacceptable outcome.”

Fort Lauderdale last week was inundated with a historic downpour that caused massive floods and catastrophic property damage, upending the lives of thousands of people. According to experts and meteorologists such as Dan DePodwin of AccuWeather, this level of rain was so historic and rare that it is expected to only occur once every thousand years. Some areas saw over 25 inches of rain.

Cars and trucks floated through the city, and artery roads were turned into rivers that can only be passed by swimming through them. Many residents lost their homes, their vehicles, and their every material possession.

I know all this to be true because my family experienced it all.

And as I and countless others were experiencing this tragedy, our governor was in other states, far away, hawking his book and hyping up donors for a likely presidential run. In a time of historic crisis, the leader of our state’s government went AWOL.

You're slipping Ray, you forgot to include the part where he should resign immediately.

"If Ron DeSantis is more interested in running for president than being the governor we deserve in difficult times, then he must resign immediately."
