Lots of smoke

Mac is not the problem but he the problem!!! Nuss is the issue and we all know it but Mac is taking the fall for Nuss being incompetent. So Mac is the problem because he will not fire Nuss. But there is nothing that can stop UF admin from terminating Nuss and this IMHO is who they should go after. Nuss is just a monkey on Macs shoulder and Mac like him there.

I just want some entertaining football.

We don't seem to develop offensive talent at all.

we have really talented WR's on the roster that don't even play, yet were good enough to get snaps with the 1's, multiple days in camp...

Sorry for the wall of text. But I want to make sure everybody sees this part. This is why I posted earlier that Mac should be fired for the Will Grier debacle alone.

"[McElwain] didn't really invite me back to the stadium, and it felt weird the times I would go up there," Will said. "There was this idea that I knew what I was doing, which was not the case. The players would come over to my house, but it was weird to go to the stadium with the staff. The dynamic was just off."

Will even offered to play scout-team quarterback the week of the SEC championship game to help prepare Florida's defense for Alabama. He was turned down for that, too.

"He loved being a Gator. He loved the place, the school, the people, he was proud to be a Gator. He was all in," Chad said. "I didn't realize he had been ostracized. I underestimated the impact of what he was going through, and the fact he wasn't doing good. He was in a dark place."

After revealing to his dad that he'd been cut off, Will asked if he'd come with him to meet with McElwain "to figure this out." When McElwain showed up more than two hours late to their appointment, Chad knew it was a bad sign.

McElwain said Will was welcome to stay, but also suggested a fresh start elsewhere might not be a bad idea. After the meeting, Chad told his son, "I don't think he wants you.'"

McElwain later insinuated that the Griers had asked for a "guarantee" that Will would get the job back once he was eligible to return.

They vehemently contest that.

"I was expecting a 10-minute meeting: 'Hey, we care about your son, he's important to the program,'" Chad said. "Just wanted to know he was wanted there, because there was no plan. How are you going to help and develop him, even though he's going to have to sit out?

"The last thing we asked for was a guarantee."

As rocky as the first meeting with McElwain went, Will wasn't quite ready to let go.

"I wanted to stay. ... So I went back and met with him, just one-on-one," Will said. "But it felt like this staff wanted to move on, which is fine, there's no hard feelings toward that. They have their own recruits, their own guys."

Toward the end, when Will agreed to leave, McElwain printed out prepared releases for schools he could transfer to, which precluded the SEC, rival Florida State and future opponent Michigan. And, as Will put it, "left it at that."

i know there’s two sides to the story. But I also know that college coaches put up with a ton of crap from players. Especially star players. I just didn’t see anything in the Grier case that warranted throwing him out. And we heard from multiple sources that Grier wanted to stay.

On the other hand I’m happy for Will, the move was definitely best for him. He seems to be in a good place personally and WVU will actually let him showcase his talents.

This makes me want to vomit.

I don't care for Grier and his dad's mess and the recent comments about the SEC etc. by Grier just reinforce that but its time Mac was gone. I think with his latest death threat stunt that 5-6 may actually get him canned now. The FSU game could truly determine whether he remains or not even though the decision should really be made prior to that.

Paco, the damage is done, he humiliated himself and the university. The boosters and UAA despise him. Stricklin doesn’t want to retain him.

The money excuse is out the door, its there. And even before the bafoon made this stupid remarks it was being discussed how to get him out. In no way before or after Monday, is it a guarantee he sees next year.

So no, message board posters aren’t changing anything. The guy made an ass of himself of himself and UF, and nothing here can change that

I'm not disagreeing with you on this, Michi, you missed my point

My opinion, based on info I received about an hour ago, is that Mac is done, it will happen on Sunday

If I am hearing the same info as Paco, it is done. The Saturday game is not a factor. Someone claimed it could have been Thirsday but some things weren’t wrapped up yet.

Randy will finish the season

Hearing that also but hope you guys aren't being given bad info.

Sad said there was zero chance Mac wouldn't be back for 2018. :D

Which is exacty why its not that hard to believe Mac isn’t looking for an out. He is done here, will never have fan support, adminstrative support or anything of the likr. He is done, just a matter of when

how about Sunday or Monday?

For sure. Pretty exciting possibilities out there too

The AD probably thinks Mullen is a big name but didn't someone say he burned some bridges here with the Administration or the big boosters one. I hope he doesn't end up here but MSU writers have been saying for a few weeks that Mullen is probably looking to move on after this season.

The number of arrested players under his tenure is also embarrassing. In spite of the fact that no coach can monitor 85 kids 24/7, the buck stops with the head coach when so many are caught breaking the law.

I hope it's not Mullen. I would hope they would throw all they can in luring Scott Frost from UCF. He would be my #1 choice. In August, Sports Illustrated listed their top 30 hot coaching prospects. Maybe but spread offense, develops QB's well. The other pieces will be there for any competent QB coach. Mac can't coach worth a damn and won the East the last two years because of those other pieces. And Mullen has moved away from heavy option. Imagine Corral in the gun slinging it to 3-4 4.4 receivers on the outside. Ship!

If Mullen hadn’t coached here, his name would not be brought up nearly as much.

Might as well consider Charlie Strong, too.
Strong has been with every UF coach from Pell all the way up to Meyer.
Strong is doing well at South FLorida and did well at Louisville. At Texas, their people lost patience there.

Scott Frost would be another possibility.

I would think Corral would bolt with a Mullen hire since the QB runs so much under him. I know he is mobile but he isn't that type of QB I think. I think when Mullen had that QB Russell that didn't run much Miss State lost quite a few games.

The program is down. Its not the draw it once was.

We have had Mus and Mac.

Time for a splashy hire.

I'm hoping that they give the job to Clarabelle.... :D

This 'coaching carousel' thingy has worked out so well for tennis-sea that I'm sure that it will work just as well here too...

Lol at Charlie Strong.

Dude is not a top tier head coach. He can’t deal with it AND he’s a defensive guy.

No thanks.

That put Strong into the right position to be elevated to interim head coach at UF (finishing Zook's last season?), but he lost our bowl game, and showed too few reasons for UF to keep him as permanent head coach.

As a Gator, I can be happy for how Charlie is doing there. But he hasn't even completed his 1st season of coaching, and he still hasn't shown what quality & quantity of recruits he can sign with a full recruiting cycle there, in competition against more than just 1 in-state football rival (construed loosely).

and did well at Louisville.
Strong was at L'ville 2010--2013, when they played in the Big Least, then the "American" (1 season), before beginning conference play in the fearsome ACC in 2014. Our SEC opponents in Kaintuck regard L'ville as an overgrown community college. Its image on t.v. depends on athletic facilities sole-sourced from generous alum "Papa John". Their fans' football game-day experiences will be completely different if--or when--Jimbo rights the FSU war-canoe.

At Texas, their people lost patience there.
Isn't it more accurate to write that "their people" at Texas never had "patience there" with Strong, i.e., 2014--2016? Don't overlook the brighter side out there: Strong avoided L'ville's 1st year of ACC conference play.

To return to football excellence, UF shouldn't be hiring coaches whose promoters & advocates need to make excuses for failures at a comparable major-college level. That a disqualifcation on grounds of perceived failure might be unfair is not a justification for UF to take it upon itself--UFAA & boosters--to provide a major head-coaching opportunity here.[/B][/B]

The above message is fully approved by DannyGator1989.

Spurs as OC won’t work this season. What is he going to do, make calls from Nuss’ bubblescreen playbook?
