Lonestar ****UPDATE November 21****

Lol, i’m shocked he/she did that

Man….lots to it. All good. Not the right board so I don’t want to get too much into it, but from the inside I believe most OU fans were ok with her leaving. The way she did it and continues to do things….thats a different story. Bottom line. The Program had regressed 4 consecutive years.

Anyway. Let’s Go Brandon!!!

What do little green bigfeets and me have in common? We both wish @instaGATOR would go away and leave us alone.
Liar Liar, pants are an inferno....

I've never claimed any knowledge of little green men, nor of bigfoot.

I know for sure about UFO's/UAP's, and I believe that a bigfoot type creature is a possibility that needs credible scientific investigation, just as Dr. Jane Goodall has said.

You constantly scream LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME, begging for attention from anyone, but especially from me.
Otherwise, you'd never open any thread that I start, and you'd have me on ignore and never see me again.

Now, SD&STFU, you're embarrassing yourself yet again....

So, quick update. From houston to okeechobee. Loving retired life here in south Florida. We got gators in Houston, but man Yall got tons of em. Keeping the dogs on tight leashes when we go for walks. Life is good here in south florida.

Houston alligators are pussies. Chobe gators can grow into the 14' range and reach 1000+ pounds, so yes, keep the dogs away from the water's edge, cause gators love to eat dogs. BTW, a 4 foot chain link fence is no barrier to a gator. Seen a 9 footer go over one without even breaking stride.

Okeechobee is a city in Okeechobee County, Florida. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city's population was 5,621. Okeechobee County (Big Water) was formed on August 17, 1917. This county is situated in the southeast central part of Florida and is located forty miles from the Atlantic Ocean on the east, eighty miles from the Gulf of Mexico on the west and is bordered on the south by the great lake which bears its name. It is the county seat of Okeechobee County.

The Lake Okeechobee area was the site of the worst effects of the 1928 Okeechobee Hurricane, the first recorded Category 5 hurricane in the North Atlantic and still one of the deadliest hurricanes ever to strike the US. An estimated 2,500 Floridians lost their lives as a result of the Okeechobee Hurricane in 1928. The disaster, also known as the San Felipe Segundo hurricane, ranks among the deadliest disasters in the nation’s history. Because of it shallow depth and large ares, the hurricane's winds pushed up a tidal wave that all but totally destroyed the town.

Note: Lake Okeechobee, which averages 12 feet deep and covers 730 square miles, is a great large-mouth bass fishing lake (been there, done that), but if they predict a hurricane is coming, then get your ass outta there for higher ground.

The area I currently live in is in the N.FL Aquifer recharge region. Those deep aquifers run down the length of FL and come to the surface as Lake Okeechobee, then it outflows as the Everglades. The Florida Everglades in south Florida is one of the world’s most unique and fragile ecosystems. Often thought of as a swamp, it’s actually a slow-moving river (1-3 mph) flowing over an area 40 miles wide by 100 miles long, from the south shore of Lake Okeechobee to the mangrove estuaries of Florida Bay. As an outdoorsman, I hope you really enjoy your time there. iG
And now, back to your regularly scheduled thread.....

Just soaking it all in right now. Here until april, and will be here every winter for the foreseeable future. Wife has family in West Palm, she drives to visit them while I fish.

This summers travels….Moab/Arches And Bryce Canyon/Zion Utah, Yellowstone, Glacier National in Montana, Craters of The Moon Idaho, Black Hills/Badlands, the ozarks for A month of trout fishing, the smokies, then back to Okeechobee for winter. Loving it here in Florida.

Seems he left for the Iowa board...He doesn't post in the Bammer board.

Yep, I’m sure he’ll swing back around …. It’s an easy vibe over thar

Hello gents. 3 weeks until I head out of Florida for our summer travels. Wanted to thank you Floridians for the amazing hospitality. Y’all are amazing. Will see you all next November when I come back for winter.

We truly enjoyed our time here. It went by so fast, and there are still so many other things we want to do when we come back in the winters to come.

Will be coming through the panhandle on our way back down. Staying 2 weeks at Destins army resort, then on to the Keys.

Headed out of Okeechobee Lake area tomorrow. Palm Bay for 2 days for RV maintenance, 3 days in Orlando then on to Indiana for RV upgrades.

My ticker is already beating heavy with filling up the beast with fuel.

Floridian hospitality has been fantastic

Made it to Palm Bay folks. Went to Bass Pro Shops to kill some time. Had an “olds” moment due to…….Boobs.

lady approached me (showing much cleavage) and asked if I wanted to win 50k? Of course I do. Got caught up in a 30 minute sales pitch for a timeshare and some “free” Nascar tickets. Overall, it was a great 30 minutes, and……I still have no clue what color her eyes are.

One great thing about getting older gents, is the drool can be excused.

Nice little town Here in Palm Bay.

Spent last night in Tifton Georgia, so cold I could cut glass with my nipples. Had to put on some Marvin Gaye to get those temps warmed up with the ol lady. Had nightmares of Kirby Smart yelling at me that my effort with the ol lady wasn’t good enough. @GADAWGinIraq

On to Kentucky for tonight. Bowling Green. Maybe @ghost_of_ukalum1988 can give me some pointers while here in the Bluegrass state.

When you go to Key West, be sure that your 'LEFT HAND' is all limbered up, cause that place has been largely over-run with the left-handed,,, if you get my drift.... 😉

Insta........fix your compass. He appears to be headed back north of here headed home.;)
Mavi, maybe you should be the one paying a little more attention to his posts....

If he's already gone there, then he already knows.
If not, then he's been informed for the future.
Either way, to me, NBD....
😉

I appreciate everyones advice. We will be touring Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, South Dakota, and Missouri this summer, before heading back to Florida in November. Destin 2 weeks, 1 week in the keys, then Okeechobee (Gods country) for the rest of winter.

Lifes too short gents, get out and do that thing you always wanted to do. Tomorrow is not promised.

September my friend. Covid restrictions wore me and the old lady out. Interesting thing is that our business had record profits during covid. But, it came at a cost physically and mentally. Wife and I worked 7 days a week, 12-16 hours a day. (No one else wanted to work). Just wore us out. Sold everything. Made some decent change, and not looking back my friend. Between that and our military pension….time to enjoy whatever time God gives me man.

jfegaly, I retired at age 53. I'm not rich, but everything was paid for with ZERO debt the day I retired, due to not living an extravagant lifestyle, and being frugal with what money I had.

I told them that I was not someone that needed a boss to tell me what to do every day, and that no amount of money could buy back any time for you. That's what 6 Billion $$ Howard Hughes found out at the end....

To me, personal FREEDOM is way more important than any amount of money/things....

One of my life-long friends lives in Bowling Green. I personally haven’t been there in about 4-5 years. Are you just passing through or staying in the area for a few days?

Completely agree sir. You can always get more money, time….not so much.
Mother Nature is undefeated.

Congrats on retirement

Well, you’re just south of Mammoth Cave. There’s also the Corvette plant / museum just north of town on I-65. I’ve heard good things about Barren River Lake east of BG but I’ve never been there.

Go a bit further north and east and you can visit Abraham Lincoln’s birthplace in Hodgenville, and then go to Bardstown to see the Federal Hill plantation aka My Old Kentucky Home; that’s where you start getting into distillery country (the Kentucky Bourbon Trial).

Perfect time to be in Destin. Most of the tourists are not here then!

I took the Mammoth Cave excursion as a teenager way back in the 60's, and I loved the experience. When they turned the lights out, you got to find our was truly DARK was all about....

It's a very long walk, so only if you're healthy and up for it.

Full experience was about 8 hours, with occasional bench stops for resting.
A half tour that ended in the giant cavern cafeteria is easier at about 4 hours, and it has an elevator to return you to the surface lobby.

Things have likely changed since way back then, but you can check it out here:
