This is still missing the point a bit. Trump greased people to get things done for his business...not because he was a fan. He gave to both sides. Trump politically is saying the same things he was 40 years ago. The democrat party LEFT HIM...he did not leave them.
This is true, but he still was a democrat and fairly liberal on social issues in particular. But I think repeated exposure to who and what the left is eventually became too much for him to bear and he left them.
