Lane to Auburn - Maybe🤣

Might be a better reason for Saban to hang around at Bama for another 10+ years just to keep owning Kiffin.

I actually would like to see Saban start losing some but don't trust Jimbo to ever win the West. The only one who seemed to be able to beat Bama under Saban more than a rare time in the West was UCFs coach but he was also losing a lot of games he shouldn't have at the same time.

Malzahn could beat Saban but then would struggle against everybody else.

West is overrated as a whole this yr. Lsu is their best team and we should have beaten them by 2 TD at worst. Crazy that the east is the better of the 2, 5 yrs ago nobody would have thought that. East is tough this yr

Even with Tennessee beating Bama and LSU the West teams will still have a .500 record against the East if Arkansas beats Mizzu today. Hopefully Mizzu wins because the East having a winning record against the West has been pretty rare since about 2009.

SEC is just loaded again as usual. 4 teams in the top 10 and Texas and OU are joining. SEC recruits the best and so they have the best teams as well. It isn’t exactly rocket science.

fsu939913,

Agree.

Even though I am not holding my breath over today's game between UF & FSU, I believe that Napier & the Gators will help the east to be even stronger next year.

You caught LSU first game of the season with a new coach, and you guys had a game under your belt. And with all that you needed some luck to escape with the W. But the east does look stronger than the west, which is unusual over the past 10 years or so.

Yep, if you believe what the commish said, looks like 9 conf games and 1 big division.
I’m all for anything that creates more frequent games between all members, including ending traditional yearly rivalry games if necessary. Georgia still has not been to College Statio that’s just a stupid system.

I think 3 permanent games and no divisions or pods will allow all the big traditional rivalries to remain. Games like LSU and FL may not be yearly anymore though.

Good. I still the two divisions work if you just add a 9th game and do some realignment. When Texas and Oklahoma join, move Bama and Auburn to the East, they're the only reason they made the permanent cross-divisional rivals a thing because of Auburn/Georgia and Alabama/Tennessee. No one else has a real reason to have a permanent rival.

Agreed. Odd that Florida has made I believe 3 trips to college station and Ga none. You would think SEC schedulers would have caught that by now.

What if the new aligned SEC has a north and south division added to east-west. Then add 4 highest ranked teams to the division winners for SEC championship playoff.

Doubt they would ever have more than 1 game for the SEC since the 12 team playoff is coming.

If the commish steps away from the scheduling concept that every recruit who stays 4 years will have a chance to play in every SEC stadium, then there are lots of workable models. If he wants to keep it, you can only do it with 9 games and 4 pods of 4 teams each.

He's also leaving the cupboard bare as he's a garbage recruiter along with every high school coach that hates his guts. This Lame-Auburn relationship will end the same way it did when he was in Knoxville.
It's probably not a coincidence that rumors of Kiffen upgrading his paycheck has affected the last 4 games Ole Piss has played. I'm sure the players feel abandoned.

In other coaching change news, it looks as if Nebraska will get a good coach in Matt Rhule. Smooth move Auburn!

We fumbled on the goal line otherwise it was a 2td lead game over.

All the talk about Kiffin not being a good recruiter. Is that based at his time at Ole Miss only? Seems I remember he stole some (that didn't pan out due to legal troubles) from Urban and a few other big programs at UT. One of his USC classes finished #1 and he seemed to recruit talent there. Even at FAU he got decent players considering the league they played in.

Besides Freeze cheating, Ole Miss has rarely been a recruiting force.

To show you how bad A and M was this yr.....Norvell had more SEC wins than Jimbo

He's not a bad recruiter - he's average, which means he's the same as every other coach at the school he's at. So at Ole Miss his classes are about 18-22nd, which is just like every other Old Miss coach, excluding Freeze of course.

Same at TN, USC etc - he doesn't move the needle beyond the natural recruiting the school will do.

If he came to UF you'd expect him to recruit like Mullen - finish about 10-12th every year in recruiting.

That's why he's so uninteresting to me - at UF if you aren't a dog on the recruiting trail you just aren't going to make it here.

Well we aren’t much ahead of the 10-12 spot right now

I think we're a good bit ahead - Mullen's 10-12 classes ended up looking more like 18-20 with several players every year not making it to campus.

Napier's current 8th spot is within 10 points of the composite's 3rd ranked class - we're in that 2nd tier of recruiting with a chance to move up. The current class is better than anything Mullen ever had on paper.

Correct. The margin between like the 3rd ranked composite class and the 8th class is really small. Mullen’s classes weren’t ranked as high and then had alot of kids that never even made it to campus. The blue chip ratio of this Napier class is really high and has a ton of Florida prospects. It’s just missing a few elite prospects.

Perfect solution for Auburn - hire booster Jimmy (Yellas fella) Rane as HFC ($1 / yr) & he could then hire Freeze as a consultant / analyst.

SEC commissioner would never realize Freeze was actually acting as the Auburn HFC. LOL
