Ky favored by a few. We will have to play well to win. The cats aren't very well organized on defense so i think we can exploit them with our guard play. Hoping for a good shooting night.

5+ Micky-D AA's + Rupp + SEC Officials = A tough roe to hoe for the Gators.

Hayes and Stone need to play their best inside game of the season.
The Arc will need to rain 3's all night from every Gator.
The 'TEAM' defense will need to be solid in both halves, and right down to the final whistle. o_O

The Gator can still win it,,, but this will be no 'walk in the park' for them.

I expect KY to win by a a few points in this game though I could see us finding a way to win. Without Egbunu we just don't have the defensive presence in the middle like we normally would. If our shots are really dropping we might win but KY has some length which might make shooting a little difficult. Hopefully we find a way to win it somehow.

Love the way they are digging in and playing an ugly game on the road. If they hit some threes, they look like they are ready to take this one.

Chiozza is a great pg. Other than Taurean Green and freshman Brett Nelson, not sure who else I’d take over him.

Great win. I don’t think they hit a 3 in n the second half, shot terrible overall, and gutted that out on the road in Lexington! Nice job Gators!

With Allen & Igor not doing much of anything offensively, missing a ton of free throws and shooting terrible from beyond the arc as a team, these guys gutted out a great win. Taking care of the ball & playing pretty good team defense won the game. Kentucky is not nearly as good as they have been under Calipari - lots of individual talent, but very little team play. Mike White is once again milking what he's got available to get the most out of his players. And to not shoot it well at all on the road at Rupp and still come out with the win is pretty amazing

Hey Calipari haters, er, I mean lovers who professed unadulterated hate for him until he took your job.

Bite my huge dick.

Good win Gators.

And since I know that have a bat signal here whenever they get mentioned, enjoy my ass smell while you are at it. Yes, my patience is thin.

We improved in most area’s except our shooting, a W that you need to appreciate. If the shooting gets consistent and Big John plays into game shape by March, we will be a team that no one will want to play
Coach White is doing one hell of a job with this team!

There’s just as much butthurt if not more over Zion picking Duke as there is about the game. We’re not a happy fan base right now. This is why I generally stick to the UK Football Board and stay away from Rupp’s Rafters.

This is probably Cal’s least talented team, and it shows. At least the 2013 team had the excuse of losing Nerlens Noel for the season during the Florida game as to why they failed to make the NCAA tournament.

Then again, we’ve had teams struggle during the season and then catch fire at the end and make a nice run in the tournament.

Anyways, congrats on the win. Your guys earned it.

A bunch of them are supposed to be 1st round picks I think. Not sure what to think of Cal's recruiting strategy with mostly 1 year players going forward as far as winning National Championships.

It was nice to see us winning a tough game where the shots weren't falling either. Really surprised we were able to win a big road game like that with the shots not falling most of the night.

Great win at the toughest place to play in the country. If UF just shoots a little better from the arc (it was woeful today) the game isn't even close. Good win gutting it out. I do remain surprised that White won't stick to a zone defense against teams like KY who like to pound it inside and struggle from 3 point land. If UF had all their bigs on hand, I'd understand. But without those guys it is puzzling. Maybe real basketball expert can clear this up?

Hard to get a team to think and play as a TEAM for just 1 year when most of the players are only thinking about impressing NBA scouts. That's why for all the talent's Caliperi has had at KY they've only won 1 title. It's his philosophy, though and it has won him a ton of games over the years, but not one that I think is good for the college game, nor for the individual kids, most of whom will not be the multi-millionaire NBA stars they all think they will. Most of them will end of broke without a degree.

Good game, I think with this win all of the NIT talk should die down unless a major collapse is on the horizon. The Gators have been missing a down low presence all year, which has made them not nearly the force we thought they may be coming in.

Addressing the entire thread and post game with this one post.

C John Egbunu 6-11 265 Sr - rehabbing 2017 ACL, late Jan.

C Gorjok Gak 6-11 245 So - concussion protocol, day to day.

C-PF Isaiah Stokes 6-8 270 Fr - rehabbing 2017 ACL, late Jan.

PF Chase Johnson 6-9 205 Fr - concussion protocol, day to day.

The Wt's on the two Fr are their 'season entry weights.'
Stokes has dropped pounds, Johnson has gained pounds.
Both could be much needed help down the (2nd half of the season) stretch.
The loss of the Bigs hurts both the inside and outside defense, due to the need to double down on the inside.

IF Hayes 6-9 225 and Stone 6-8 245, don't properly do their jobs inside, then it's tough to win games unless the outside guys are just pouring in the 3's, in an attempt to 'out-score' the opponent..

No 'one guy' is going to win the games for the Gators, it's always going to need a 'TEAM' effort.
===============

While one guy never wins a game by himself, someone or two having a big game always helps....
First Half: UF 33 - 31 UK ----- Second Half: UF 33 - 33 UK
14-5, 6-1 SEC UF 66 - 64 @ #18 UK 14-5 - 4-3 SEC

Cool trivia: Saturday was National Cheese Lovers Day, how appropriate was that?
PG Cheezee - 13 Pts, 6 Rbs, 8 Asts, 1 T-O
With a 'game sealing steal' to end the game.
IF you live & die on 'one & dones,' (UK) then like the 1st mouse, you never get the Sr cheezee.... :D
-----

SF/SG Hudson - 17 Pts, 5 Rbs, 1 Ast, 1 T-O, 1 Blk.
With a huge blocked shot in the final seconds.

PF Stone - 14 Pts, 3 Rbs, 1 Ast, 1 T-O, 2 Stls
With a 2 Pt lead, he missed the front end of a 1&1 with 19 seconds left.

SG Allen - 11 Pts, 1 Rb, 2 Ast, 2 T-O, 1 Stl.

C/PF Hayes 32 Min - 9 Pts, 9 Rbs, 1 T-O, 1 Blk, 1 Stl.
4/6 FG, 66.7%, but blind at the FT line, 1/6 16.7%

SF 3-Gor - 2 Pts, 9 RBs, 1 Blk, 1 Stl
With a huge blocked shot in the final seconds.

UF managed to leave the Bluegrass State in such good standing despite a horrific shooting performance. The Gators, the No. 2 offense in the SEC and top 3-point shooting team, made just 33% of their field-goal tries, including a dreadful 6-for-30 from the 3-point line (20%), and 16/25 67% on FT's. How bad was it?

Grad-xfer SF 3-Gor went 0-for-8 from the floor and 0-for-5 from the Arc.
SG Allen was 4-for-16, 25% and 1-for-7, 14.3% from the Arc.

Backup SG, leading scoring Hudson, 4-for-13, 30.8% and 2-for-8, 25% from the Arc.

C/PF Hayes went 1-for-6, 16.7% from the FT line.

TEAM - 22/66, 33% FG's -- 6/30, 20% Arc, 16/25, 64% FT's.

The Gator's saving grace: kensucky also shot like they were going blind.
This was less a defensive game imo, than it was a totally horrific night for both offenses shooting the ball.
The Gators ended up just 2 pts less bad than the mildcats, mostly off of their 9 Pt run to end the 1st half.

The Kensucky Cal-Cheat, always a sniveling whiner, blamed the loss on no fouls for his boys in the final seconds. But it's funny how he liked his guys being able to drop a shoulder, slam into a Gator's chest, and literally run over the Gator defenders for all but a couple of plays in the game. For a change, the SEC officials didn't just give another game away to the Gator's opponent,,, proving that miracles can happen....

SG Jalen Hudson end-game response -- "We were more poised than they were," he said. :p

With one block against Kentucky, junior center Kevarrius Hayes is now tied with Udonis Haslem for eighth on UF’s all-time blocked shot list (120). … With 11 points against Kentucky, KeVaughn Allen has passed Al Horford (1,123 points) and Joakim Noah (1,133 points) and now sits 41st on UF’s all-time scoring list with 1,137 points.

Up next

Allen's showing some signs of life. You can see he is second guessing himself. Saturday, he traveled once when he was set to shoot the ball on the catch but then tried to pump fake and go to the rim, he also pump faked himself into a couple of much worse shots then he had to begin with. He's quick and strong enough to get whatever shot he wants. He just needs to let the ball go. It's tough when you don't see it go in enough, though.

I wonder if Shai Alexander is now regretting his switch to UK?

Prolly not. At UF he would need to go to classes and stay awake, plus stay out of trouble to keep on getting his playing time. That's just a lot to ask of any guy that is a young & famous student/ATHLETE.

Through the early season streak, some of us Gators never gave up on the TEAM....

Now with their win @ Rupp and being #1 in the SEC at 6-1, the #20 Gators are back in the Top 25 Poll.
Another stiff SEC test is coming on Wed vs SCa. GooooooooooGATORS!

SF/SG Jalen Hudson has been named Co-SEC PoW. This is the 2nd time he's received the PoW award. He showed how you finish a game @ Rupp, by sealing the Gators win by sinking two free throws with 31 seconds remaining to make it 66-61. Then on the other end, his lone block of the game came with 2.5 seconds remaining when PJ Washington went up for the potential game tying layup. Nice work Jalen! :)

Quote of Note! -- Coach Mike White - "Someone told me after the game that it’s National Cheese Day. Heck, that’s every day for us." :D

Bonus: Now 3 teams are in the Top 25, but none of them are UK... :p
The Gators knocked UK-Cal/Cheat outta the Top 25 for the 1st time since 2014.

19. AU 17-2 --- 2. 5-1 SEC
20. UF 14-5 --- 1. 6-1 SEC
22. TN 13-5 --- 3. 4-3 SEC

Last week:
UF - W vs Ark, W vs UK
AU - L vs UA, W vs UGA
TN - L vs Miz, W vs SCa

The NR Gators clipped #18 UK, 66-64, at Rupp Arena on Saturday — snapping a 57-game home winning streak for the Wildcats against unranked foes — to vault into the top spot in the SEC standings. It was UF's 8th win in it's last 9 games, making it one of the league’s hottest teams.
