the feeling i was left with after my first trip to tokyo in 2012 was that we take our freedoms for granted here in the USA. Japan runs like a machine because it has to, its so crowded and overbuilt there is no other option other than strict adherence to every law. People dont jaywalk there, they do not change lanes on the highway. everything is very robotic. As countries get more mature and crowded, freedom diminishes. enjoy ours while they last.

Its denial. He has equated his politics with the quality of person he is. It’s like the parent whose kids all end up in jail, yet insist they were good parents. They don’t want to look at themselves.

The Woke movement has a history of this behavior. BLM and ANTIFA riots are ok, but 1/6 was the worst thing ever. Always an excuse for why the logic doesn’t apply to them in situations that suites them. Or when Kimmel did blackface on his old show that also degraded women on a daily basis. That kind of past doesn’t cost him his job because he has a D next to his name.

I think a huge reason we push back on the woke movement so much, outside of it making no sense, is the double standards that aren’t discussed and we’re supposed to ignore. I can deal with someone have a different opinion than me. But it’s the double standard and special that causes so much push back.

They see it. But don’t deal with it because they don’t want to lose special treatment.
