Highest QB rating in the country after Week 1.

Yes Muschamp was THAT bad of a coach. Mischamp found ways to make our offensive players look much much worse than they really are.

7 WR coaches in the last 7 years.
6 OC's and systems over the last 8 years.
2014 UF/Driskel led the SEC in DROPPED PASSES!
(on purpose or not is the question) o_O

JD got boned here imoho, and I'm glad that he's doing well at his new home.
He wasn't the BUST here that some claimed he was, but he did get pretty 'busted-up' while he was here.
Good kid, good student, good citizen, good QB that got shafted by the circumstances.
I'll continue to wish him well as he moves forward in his new life.....
==================

Anyway, McElwain & staff seem to have cleaned out all of that team refuse and started over with the infamous
New & Improved everything, making me very happy with the now, so I'm letting the recent past fade away,,,,
and the sooner the better, for all of us.

'Peace-on' all of that bygone stuff.... :p

Convinced you have an agenda and/or are completely ignorant.

Seriously. Can you think analytically?

I'm dead serious, because you've never once showed it after 10 years.

driskel sucks period.

if the point hasn't already been proven then there's no point discussing this topic

no one, no one ive ever seen is as bad at playing QB as that kid.. no matter the scheme, the things he's done on air is a dead give away of how bad he is. The UT game last year is the only example anyone ever needs, a true Freshmen came in and did more and saved the game in 30 seconds.

Driskel is not a bad kid. Very talented. But unfortunately he has suffered the perfect storm of bad coaching. In HS he played for a losing program where he was head and shoulders above everyone else. I believe they went 5-6 his senior year and he threw like 11 TDs only. He also had horrendous coaching and Hagerty's offense was more run oriented. He went to a HS that started playing football like 1 or 2 years before he got there so their program was not established AT ALL.

Then he comes to UF and manages to play for a coach who doesn't have a clue about offense and most importantly didn't care to get a clue. As long as he could win 10-7 and not put pressure on his defense he didn't care what happened on offense. And like mentioned above, Driskel had 3 different OCs, 3 different QB coaches, his WRs had 4 different WR coaches and the ones that were juniors and seniors when he was frosh/soph had already had 4 different WR coaches. Yes that is correct UF had a different WR coach each year from 2009 to 2014, and in 2012 we had no WR coach and used a guy named Butch Hamdan as one.

Driskel garnered his #1 QB rating in 2011 based on talent and potential alone, not accomplishments.

So when all you have is potential, translation you haven't done SQUAT yet, and you are given both horrendous and INCONSISTENT coaching throughout 4 years of HS and 4 years of college, how the heck can ANYONE develop that potential?

Best decision he made was to go down a level, get some consistent coaching (not gonna say solid cause I don't know how good the OC/QB/WR coach at La Tech is) and hope someone in the pros is willing to work with you for 2-3 years before writing you off.

Yep. Not many QBs would have succeeded working within that offensive cluster.
Informed gators should ask themselves how many quarterbacks performed functionally in the cluster f Muschamp called an offense. The day that half brained ape was fired marked the most productive day of his tenure here.

You speak the truth....

Tyler Murphy and Jacoby Brisset played well at their new schools last season during their debuts also . Let the season play out before we start using hindsight !!!!

BINGO. A lot of facts in the above post.

Meh. Guy has always feasted on pasties. Luckily for him that's all that will be on that teams schedule. Good luck to him by I don't really care how he does, I'm worried about the two we got now.

How he fares in the future (same as with Brissett and Murphy) will be a reflection of just how horrendous our offensive coaching was from 2010 to 2014. Again, SIX different WR coaches in SIX years. And two of them (Hamden and Leak) had zero credentials to coach WRs and were handed the position out of necessity. Three OCs and 3 QB coaches for Driskel.

Now think of this: from 1990 to 2001, UF had the same OC/QB coach, Spurrier, and the same WR coach, Dixon. What a difference solid AND consistent coaching year after year after year makes on developing and maximizing your talent. But when you go through a coaching carousel of morons (sorry Chris Leak you get grouped in the bunch), you will get poor player development and therefore poor play.

But we already know that , and besides that is the past.....

So why are we holding it against our former Gators then? I think we should very much care how they do because people still defend the actions of Jeremy Foley in hiring Muschamp and not firing him after 2013. And yes, the Will Muschamp era goes squarely on the shoulders of Jeremy Foley; every single last bit from start to finish and the aftershocks that will be felt over the next 2-3 years.

Southern Jaguars.... I have never even heard of a team called that. Figured it was on the same level as Kerwin Bell's team.

Whether you like him or still hate him, one thing is guaranteed, he will never play for us again. So any topics regarding whether it was all his fault or only 99% of his fault are rather moot at this point. He's moved on, doing his thing and going on with his life. Our program has moved on as well and we should focus on what we have now.

For the first time in years I woke up with a good feeling after a game, and it's not because we had a good game, it's because I have something to look FORWARD to this year and going forward. Whether that's because Muschamp is not coaching here any longer or because Driskell cannot stink up the field for us any longer is no concern of mine. All I care about is that there is hope now.

Yep, one game against the Southern University Jaguars tells you everything you need to know.

Jeremy is responsible for hiring and retaining WM. That cadaver of a coaching hire will be his to always own. But equally the decision to bring in McElwain falls on Foley. Be sure to give him the credit if this hire proves to be a winner for UF.

watching us get snaps off and convert on third down after third down was like the spurrier days.. it's felt that long

Yet people were still defending him until the day he was fired. The guy was terrible from the word go, and last night proved that several times over.

On another note...how vaunted was Auburn's defense against a mid tier ACC team?

Yes I know it was against offensive guru Bobby Petrino and AU had some costly turnovers but Auburn didn't look like a defensive juggernaut.

Well, they did shut them out in the first half and then it didn't become a concernn until the 4th quarter when Louisville seemed to find some breaks and remember how to play football. Auburn was ready to go home by that point because they had dominated them.

Watching Grier go through his progressions and hitting the open retriever on his first read if he was open was wonderful.

Harris was less adept at that. But his ability to think and perform ad hoc was also fun.

I think overall, Grier is the guy. But Harris does not scare me too much.

It's been some hard times for us Gators...I've been watching other teams for years with envy...lol...I really think that Mac is going to do some special things in Gainesville. I love what I saw Saturday night.

I turned to the BYU game which didn't disappoint at the end because AU had been handling the for most of the game. I was surprised to see the score within a TD later.

No doubt and if our offense continues to look like they did Saturday night Mich will have to give some love to Nuss too. ;)

Meyers offenses are nowhere near as balanced with spreading the ball around like this offensive system is. We relied on like 3 guys to out talent people

In 08 and 09, yes...in 05, 06, and even 07, no.

He had a descent base to start with but he had nowhere his type of recruits or the pro level talent base he had in 08-09.
