In what limited action we saw, A Rich looks like a complete QB.

Jones has played in some big games and at some crucial moments in spot duty. The LSU game last year, the SECCG this year, etc. Those type of moments helped Tebow come into his sophomore season with confidence(although he never lacked any from day 1) but I honestly think it has handicapped him. Not to get into too much detail but he came in games with designed plays to do one or two things only. Never really had to read a defense, go through progressions, etc.

Jones did look good on his TD drive but later you could see some of his weaknesses. Not saying he couldn't win the job and do great but it should be a tough competition.

Say what you will, but there has never been one moment with Emory behind center where sadgator has said to himself, “that guy looks like he has the ‘it’ factor.” He also seems to be quite a liability throwing the ball.

And without Trask and Co., sadgator is beginning to wake up to the reality that this offense is likely going to have to take a major step backward before it reaches the peaks we saw this year again.

Will be interesting. Richardson would have to probably be clearly batter to be the starter in game 1. If its close at all it will be Jones I would think.

If Emory doesnt start this yr i expect him to transfer but i tend to agree. He doesnt seem like a dominate passer. Losing toney, pitts, and Trask will definitely make the offense take a step back but hey, Mullen made that other goofball look good so while you wont have a dominate offense it will still be good imo

Anthony Richardson has that Cam Newton type look about him. Emory better not go into next year thinking he has the starting job locked up.
What if Trask comes back?
Trask ain't coming back. NFL first round money...second round at worse...third if anything. Fvck going to graduate school when you can be an instant millionaire.

You know thinking about Id rather have seen Toney play the "alternate", package, wildcat, wildgator, whatever its called over Emory because Toney had more of the "wow" factor...but it did get Jones ready for prime time or so we thought. Was he seriously puking up butterflies or was he actually sick. No damn 3rd year player needs to be nervous.

I wouldn’t worry too much about your O next season. Mullen was dialing up legit plays with Franks as your QB. Your young WRs never really got 4th quarter experience all season because your defense was so horrible and last night they get called up on 48 hour notice and y’all only practiced a couple times before the game. Awful lot of jitters for a young group that was robbed of game time development all season because of one side of the ball. That should be another reason for you to get a new DC, the D stymied your backups’ development throughout the year.

I thought your guy Emory looked good though. He threw some money passes your WRs just wouldn’t catch. Regardless who Mullen picks your O will be dangerous with him calling plays and putting your guys in position next season. You might kick our asses but I look forward to a normal schedule next season and our squads going at it.

Trask announced today that he's off to the NFL, just as most expected him to.

Jones 6-2 210 rsSo Career Stats - Appearing in 23 Gms (no starts) so far:
Passing - 47 of 70, 67.1 % for 527 yds, 11.5 Yds/Comp, 7 TD's, 1 Int, L-48
Rushing - 82 for 454 yds, 5.5 ypc, 5 TD's, L-21

EJ will also get his shot to win the starter's job, just as he should.
And AR will get his chance to compete for the job, just as he should.

Nothing against EJ, but back when I said that I wouldn't trade AR for 5-star Beck, I meant it and that hasn't changed for me.

Both are likely to get playing time next season because dual QB's can go down, and when/if they do, you need a prepared backup that's ready to step in and get the job done.
Jones 1A
Richardson 1B
Del Rio & Kitna working towards their futures as they compete for the #3 job.

Just for conversation purposes, both EJ and AR can play multiple positions.
EJ - could play RB, slot WR, or FS.
AR - could play WR, TE, or LB.
But I expect both to remain as QB's.

Mullen typically has a high floor for his offense

You think AR wins it?

Despite the absolute debacle last night the future is bright.

I would like to see AR win the job, because it would mean he met the high standards Mullen has for his QB's, and he wouldn't be able to start for one year and bolt. Let's be realistic here. With Lawrence and Fields leaving after three years, you almost have to start them as 1st or 2nd year guys or run the risk of only getting one year out of them. There aren't many Lawrences out there, that can give you three years, but if you wait until year three to start a guy, he might roll to the NFL just when he is really figuring it out.

Jones, if he doesn't transfer, could make an NFL name for himself by moving to the slot. He could be in kind of the Percy role, coming in and lining up at RB (he's a gifted runner) and using that quickness in the slot. He would be great for trick plays as well. Double passes and whatnot.

What has happened with D. Haskins will cause teams to pause on drafting QBs who have started basically one year, and hopefully it will also cause the kids to assess more closely whether they are ready to make that leap after starting just one year.

I would like to think that, but NFL teams have shown their willingness to make the same poor decisions on an annual basis.
