The average American doesn't want to hear LeBron or Tom Brady or Jimmy Johnson or ANY athlete talk politics.
Trump knows this. He also knows that CNN will see this tweet and think "A-HA! We got him! He's mad as hell over that interview, quick call LeBron back and see if he'll do Anderson's show on Monday!!!!"
CNN will parade more athletes and celebs on there to talk politics (and attack Trump) and more and more average American voters will tune out CNN and agree with Trump's tweets bashing them.
Trump has a complete understanding of the average voter, CNN thinks the average voter believes every word they say.
