100%. What disgusts me is there used to be a fat boy program...now most of them are WAY overweight. I do not like to generalize, because there are some DARN good ones...but those are far, and few between. I do not see many Normandy stormers, or the nes that did the island fighting in the Japanese theater.
Are they not enforcing the weight standards any longer that strict? When I was in the Army they enforced it pretty strict and you had to drop your bodyfat % or weight pretty quick if you ever were over it and with the runs we would do it would be hard to do that being over the limits anyway unless you were really a natural long distance runner.
I do remember reading years ago after I got out that a big % of the recruits had to do that 3 week deal to even be allowed to start real basic training. I guess that would be considered fat shaming now.

I will say if you have some hard ass doing the tape test they could add a few % on your bodyfat % and also the opposite if they do it in a way to help someone pass (which I bet is going on now - see General Schwartzkopf in the past for that mess). The best way would be for units to all have those electric current testers which are usually pretty close to what it is. The reality is that most young soldiers are overweight if past the weight limit though and a bodyfat% test usually won't make them pass.

I live VERY near 3 large military bases. 2 AF..one Army. The Airforce has FAT people in it. I mean gorls that are 5'5 180. Men 6' 240. I remember when some real buff dudes were having trouble making the fitness. No, it has started already. I will tell you another one. Women are having hysterectomy's and getting FULL disability. Sex changes paid for. It is disgusting.

Ugh, there is a reason why physical fitness was a foundation for military training. I can imagine some lardass going up against the enemy...pick an opponent. Technology will only get us so far, at some point its dudes slugging it out in the field. I can just see a platoon of fatboys rolling along in their electric scooters...with a sack of fast food. SMH.
