Id say you can trace things really going off the rails back to hiring of Stricklin. So we should fix that up as soon as possible.
I knew this was coming in October 2010. The old guys behind me leaving the game (a loss to LSU) were wanting Meyer gone because we had a loss to Bama and a last second loss to LSU. This coming off 2 NCs and a 13-1 season in the previous 4 years. I was like, “we are going to get greedy and end up being really sorry.”
And here we are, 15 years later giving reassurance to a coach that is going to finish 3 straight years with a losing record and with the lowest winning percentage in Gators history. Our signature win is a win over Kentucky, a team 5-6 consecutive coaches never lost too.
Man, the whole thing is depressing.

No doubt in my mind Meyer could have fixed everything that went wrong during his last two seasons at UF, and I don't want to hear the health issues crap.

It seems that way. Trask emerging as a 2 star recruit was about the only real lucky thing that happened with us since the 2009 season.
But even with Trask, covid shortened and affected our 2020 season.....like how 9/11 affected our 2001 season with the Tennessee game. Both seasons, Grossman and Trask should have won Heismans.

The entire 2001 season was changed by moving that UT game. Overstreet and 3 other Vols were out with injury in Sept. move the game and Darnell Dockett tries to break Grahams ankle and UT is healthy. Whole season was changed
Felipe was incredibly hated, even boo'ed, so there were thousands of people that wanted Trask...way before you even knew how to spell his name...
Mike White was average, my favorite was "if Gak hadn't got injured".....

Except Insta was banging the Trask drum since he came on campus. He must have used the term Eagle Scout four hundred times.
Insta was just lucky on his call with Trask. He even went as far to believe Max Brown would be the next Trask. Problem is, a QB like Trask may not be found again in our lifetime, or for the next generation or two. At least not a Trask like 2 star who was a backup in high school.

I was a Trask guy when others said that he was a wasted ship 2 star.
He played the 3rd and 5th series in every game his Sr season because his coach ran a spread/option offense with E.King. In his limited playing time, Kyle threw 17 TD's to ZERO ints,,,,, and he was a high character Eagle Scout as a bonus, (not a Kitna type)....
Mike White's 'Average' was 20+ win seasons with an Elite-8 in just his 2nd season,,, after taking over a 16-17 loser team....

Then when Saban retired with the accompanying assist coaches turnover, the NFL New Orlenes Saints hired him as their DL coach.
Todd Grantham is a 34-year coaching veteran with experience in college and NFL as a defensive coordinator and as a defensive line coach. He joined the Saints in 2023 after serving as an analyst at Alabama and has coached players like Cameron Jordan, Carl Granderson and Bryan Bresee, and he has fostered significant development and improvement out of some of New Orleans' younger defenders.
While defensive end Cameron Jordan continued to be the physical and emotional leader of the front four, Carl Granderson blossomed on the opposite side under Grantham's tutelage with a career-high and team-best 8.5 sacks as part of a 78 tackle effort. Bryan Bresee, the club's first round pick, finished with 4.5 sacks and six passes defensed, the top totals in club record books for a Saints rookie defensive tackle.
