we allowed 19 unanswered points and lost on the road to Auburn. The offense scored zero points in the second half and lost by ten. Many people questioned the Urban hire and especially if his offense could work in the SEC. The locker room was in shambles after that game with the offense and defense ready to kill each other.
I see a lot of people acting like we have no reason for optimism and how do we possibly turn the season around. You wake up and go to work. One loss doesn't ruin a season. Even the great urban Meyer suffered devastating losses. It's not all hugs and kisses. I see the breakdown this way
Reasons for Optimism:
- talent at QB is improving
- Mac is undefeated with his starter at QB
- won the east his first year
- complete overhaul on offense
- talent at wr and Rb is much better than when he arrived
- Flashes from some of our young defenders. I think we found some real talent even if they aren't five stars. Some of our three stars are playing like five stars minus the egos.
Reasons for concern
- losing games where it appears we have equal talent
- recruiting. It's not elite. It's far from bad but certainly not elite
- not manufacturing offense when we need it the most
- I'm not a big fan of Collins defense. I miss the sound defenses of the Strong days. We seem to be out of position and on an island often
- Macs personality. I have felt this way from day one but his aw shucks personality reminds me of Bowden and frankly is a little annoying. I could learn to love it though. I like the guys who talk about our hate for our rivals and really hate them.
- the amount of juniors that go pro. If we have a big exodus then the defense will take a step back.
It's not a program crushing defeat. We can still win the east. I certainly think the jury is still out on Mac. I personally think anyone that has already made up there mind completely for or against is way off. Go Gators!
