You are assuming the premise that the prosecution of Trump is politically motivated. I don’t think it is. I think a reasonable person would agree based on the details of the case so far.
It is entirely politically motivated and it is completely unreasonable to assume otherwise.

I can totally believe that Trump wants to be prosecuted. He was given ample opportunity to return the documents before things got serious and he consistently refused.
You might chalk this up to him playing 5-D chess and having some kind of genius master plan. I think he is simply a sociopathic narcissist who craves attention and reflexively takes the most obnoxiously confrontational approach to every situation. If he wasn't born rich, he would have spent most of his life in prison already. That’s what normally happens to guys with his personality.
