If President Harris ...

I feel very confident in my assessment of the crime bill. It was meant to help black people losing kids from drug crimes (cocaine). It's not a liberal spin, like some guy said on here because the liberals think it was a bad bill. The moderates (Bidens base) tend to understand the bill. Of course the bill had some bad things, as I've said before there is no perfect bill.

Meh...partially true.

It was also an attempt by Democrats to look tough on crime because they had been notoriously weak and their polling numbers were showing them that this was a weakness for them.

The far left hates the bill because of the lengthy sentences for drug crime. The extreme left wackos hate the bill because, according to them, no one, not even violent offenders, deserve life imprisonment. They "should be reformed, not forgotten."

That last part is a beautiful sentiment...it's just not practical or doable under any methodologies attempted so far. And I'll go so far as to say that, short of a lobotomy, you will NEVER reform any significant number of violent offenders.

For whatever reason they are beyond our reach. This is one subject where I truly know what I'm talking about. I've met a lot of these people...interacted with several over a long periods of time. It's not a happy story.

There is truth to them, going overboard to look tough on crime. That was Clinton whole appeal. You're correct about the left and far left viewpoint, that's why I laugh at the people who think it's a liberal spin to no dislike the bill.

I grew up with people who is probably behind being reached now. There are some people who just like being "gangsters". I seriously have a friend in prison for killing a man because he wanted to add "killer" to his reputation.

She is a product of her environment. Batshit crazy people with batshit crazy ideas created her.

She's responsible for what she is but I blame her parents (and others) for helping her become batshit crazy herself.
Yes..her parents obviously created a monster but she is culpable for her actions and will be from this point forward. I apprehended teens that committed homicide (their parents/guardians ignored them and that is tragic) but in the end, the trigger finger gets the time in prison (not the events that led to the lifestyle).

We have found some pretty substantial common ground.

To take it a step further, these people are incapable of living in a peaceful and complex society when they go into prison (see prison, not jail). They are much worse after they've been in for a while. Releasing them on an unsuspecting public is a ludicrous proposition.

So, what do we do? Throw more money at it hoping the next tactic works better? We've done that before. Society has done it over and over for hundreds of years...so far without great results.

I've interviewed, even studied, dozens of violent offenders. Most had MULTIPLE opportunities to turn it around..like, for example...

- never charged for another crime
- previous cases reduced from _______ to _______ on plea agreement (example from murder to manslaughter, rape to sexual misconduct or robbery 1st to theft of property)
- serve a third of a lengthy sentence, get paroled and then commit the same or a more heinous crime upon release

And then there's murder while in prisons, mistrial due to judiciary or prosecutorial misconduct or mistakes. The list goes on and on. Some people CANNOT be allowed to live in a civil society. They just won't have any of it.

So what's the solution? I have two. They'll work, they're foolproof but our left will freak the F out.

He knew what he was doing, he’s making a life changing decision and he’s lucky only one person got killed, God rest his soul.

If you try him as a minor and then use the percentages Bama supplied, the kid has a 93% chance to be a repeat offender. If he’s already participating in drive by shootings, then I’m willing to bet he will murder once he’s out.

It differs from state to state but I would be stunned, unpleasantly surprised, if he wasn't tried as an adult.
