How in the hell did Houston get so good?!?!?

Answer to question one... coaching

Answer to question two...see answer to question one.

A decade or more ago these same threads popped up with Boise State in the title.

Coaching can go a long way.

I hope LSU don't get that Herman guy. I hope they get an slightly above average coach.

Urban's protege.

I don't think Washington is a legit top 10 team right now though, but they're on the upswing.

That same guy that coached those Boise St teams is now coaching Washington (Chris Petersen)

and is Washington really #10?

Wtf is going on?

They have a lot of 4* and couple 5* castoff offs that have ended up in Houstion. Houston area is loaded with talent as well. Houston has been good for 10 years with the exception of 1 losing season. Briles, and Kevin Rumlin built a really good base. Free shoes and Choklehoma played terrible and they capitalized on it

You call this an upswing? I'm scared to see them when they are real good.

Yea they're really young. True sophomores all over the place. I expected them to be about 10-2 this year and then make a run next year. But they might be a year ahead of schedule looking at the games they have left. Damn sure whooped up on Stanford.

Washington doesn't recruit that great but Petersen can coach. He's already proved it once at Boise St.

Just an FYI Washington lost 6 games last year. I believe this is Petersen's 3rd year.

I remember a lot of people were hoping we could get Petersen in here when we got Muschamp. Petersen does seem to have a plan and stick to it. I watched a few of their games last season and despite the record you got the feeling they were heading for better things. I didn't think they would beat Stanford like this however.

Based on their schedule, Houston will probably be undefeated until they host Louisville in November.

I'd say they are as good a bet as any for the playoff.
