Florida maintained a steady presence at Florida Vipers AAU games to check out several of their players, one of whom is three-star center Victor Uyaelunmo. The Gators remain in the hunt after Uyaelunmo cut his list to eight schools Saturday afternoon on Twitter. Along with Florida, Miami, USC, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Illinois, Vanderbilt and UCONN made the cut.
Uyaelunmo, who announced that he will play his senior season at Calvary Christian Academy, had been ranked No.106 in the Rivals150 until the recent update. Raw offensively, Uyaelunmo is a big time rim protector and shot blocker. He runs the floor well but sometimes plays too unselfishly. Uyaelunmo missed all but six games of his sophomore season due to a shoulder injury that became infected, so in some ways he is a full basketball season behind in skill development.
An official visit to Tennessee has already been scheduled for September. Meanwhile, noticeably absent from Uyaelunmo's list is Florida State.
