...for the Gators. After working the phones tonight the vibe I'm getting is one and possibly two verbal commitments will become public this week. Perhaps one as early as Monday. Let's start with the two recent official visitors:
I'm expecting Andrew Nembhard to become a Gator. As far as the other commitment, that's a little less clear right now.
As for Noah Locke, he is a quiet one. The Gators quietly made a couple of trips to Maryland to visit with him, including one visit last week before Locke made his official visit to Florida this weekend. The fact that Locke didn't commit to Michigan already and took a visit to Florida is eye opening. Locke is down to Florida, Michigan and Xavier.
I spoke with the Director of the Team Melo AAU program, Dwayne Wise, who said this about the three schools: "All the schools are recruiting him as a combo guard. Michigan likes guards that can shoot. Xavier you may have to handle the ball more than he is used to. Florida I think you can hide him. I think he’d have more success at Florida or Michigan."
Where do things stand with Devon Dotson? This weekend he took his official visit to Maryland. As of Sunday night there was no official timetable set for a decision, but his father Dana believes that there will be an announcement within a week. Tonight Dana Dotson told me that his son will choose between Florida, Kansas and Maryland.
Florida has been recruiting Dotson for just over two years and would love to have him, but Dana told me that the communication from UF hasn't been as "frequent" lately as it used to be.
The staff has been up to see Khavon Moore twice since he took his official visit and things continue to look good there. He did tell me that he "had fun" on his official to Florida. I don't know a timetable there. Moore doesn't do much talking and his 'guy' has been unusually quiet lately too.
The staff has been in touch with Anfernee Simons' family and the family told them that they are taking things slowly for now. A source told me that relationships are going to be important in Simons decision.
Meanwhile, four-star shooting guard Keyontae Johnson (No.114) is scheduled to officially visit Florida this weekend (10/6).
