Here we go!

Frost wanted to bring his entire UCF staff with him. I was told that was a big no from us. Nebraska let him do it. I agree that he shouldn’t hire a bunch of ULL coaches. I don’t think he is going to do that but we will see.

We will see what happens, but I feel confident that Stricklin and the boosters didn’t give him that money to give his ULL staff massive raises. 2-3 is fine, more than 33% G5 guys isn’t what that budget was for.

Like Danny posted earlier, the boosters are prioritizing winning and I think that will come with certain expectations

Are you seeing where he's bringing more than his DC and RB coach (not counting analyst staffings, speaking specifically of field coaches).

I haven't. But, honestly who knows right now.

Who knows. Lots of rumors. I know what CRob told a recruit. I think if he is going to keep any of the current staff we will hear about it very soon.

I thought I saw Billy Gonzales posting pics with re recruits this week, which is kind of odd.

Is he a guy we keep? Billy G has kind of a mixed bag background.

This is what I think I like the most about the hire.

Our old staff still went out recruiting this week. I think Billy G is a good coach but no I don’t believe he will be retained.

So you're really tied in, obviously (and I know I've busted balls about you not getting invited to BBQs under certain coaches and that helps frame your perspective but you have to know that's ribbing).

Billy G was with us 15 years ago basically serving the same role he is now.

Why? Guy has never been given a shot at OC? Think about the guys he's worked with.

you never hear anything "bad" about him, but is there something there that keeps him as a career position coach or am I missing something?

I used to have lots of connections to UF sports and the football program. That was no joke or lie. Unfortunately all those really close connections I had are no longer at UF or have the really close tie ins to UF. I still get a little bit of info from time to time but nothing like I used too.
My take on Billy G is mainly back from the Meyer days. I don’t really know why he has never really been anything other than a WR coach. I do think he is a very good WR coach however.

I agree.

But it's weird, right? Guy has coached a lot of very good receiver corps and has never gotten the nod from a program to even step up to OC

I guess he might be a guy who knows what he's best at and likes it while also making a lot of money doing it without the headache of the bigger job.

Just weird. I can't even remember his name being brought up over the years as an option somewhere.

I agree it is weird. Never really been promoted to an OC. Even when Mullen got fired they gave OC duties to the QB coach McGee. But I think he does a good job of developing WRs and getting the most out of them.

I just want a coach who can get us back to being in contention for the SEC title every year. How he does it, I could care less as long as it's legal. He has to be given time to get his own system in place and Gator Nation is not known for its patience. But we need a guy who's in it for the long haul. Otherwise, we'll never be a big time player like the Bama's and Ohio State's of the world, which is where we want to be and should be.

Thing I was impressed with was the way his team was flying around vs. Appy St. They were really playing for him and dunked him with the gatorade and all that. Impressive considering he's on his way to another job. I get pretty good vibes from him.
