So much going on with this one. Sounds like the cops didn't assess the situation well. You would think they would adjust their tactics since he had a dog with hm, but I'm not well versed on LE training. Not sure why they were so aggressive or why they deemed him a threat for getting his VA card? Hard to tell without video or eyewitness to see how this went down.

I take a dim view to tasing a service animal.

I suppose I be thankful they didn't shoot her right there.

The ADA covers service animals, you can't just turn the service animal of a suspect loose.

This is a perfect example of there's no bad situation that can't be made worse by a cop.

All because some Karen or Chad thought he was using his dog to panhandle. So what if he was?

Since the government allows 60k of its warfighters to roam the streets, I think they should be allowed to panhandle.

This is not the type of law enforcement officers that existed when I was a LEO, and it's frankly dissapointing.

Have to agree, something isn’t right here. I sympathize with the cops to a degree because they never know what they are walking into. My gut says they overreacted trying to be Supercops and it blew up on them. Not sure what they train on how to deal with someone who has a service animal. The dog did what it was trained to do, and you could say the same for the cops.

Not sure why someone would call this dude in to begin with. I see panhandlers all the time. As long as they don’t harass me I leave them alone, which is about 99% of the time.

SOP in my old department when dealing with the disabled is a call goes to DCF and EMS is called to assess. Animal Control comes and takes custody of the dog. If a judge so orders, an inmate can have his service animal but I've only seen that in the county jail.

Seems a lot more appropriate.

I’m not so sure this guy needed to be taken into custody to begin with. Sounds like the panhandling claim was bogus. Should have resulted in a simple conversation and moving on to real criminals.

It wasn't after dark. He wasn't within the minimum distance of a restaurant or a bank, as indicated by statute in his city.

Again, some douche Karen/Chad who can't mind his/her own damn business.

I'm guessing it was the "transit stop" portion of the statute which means a stop light or stop sign.

Still, discretion is the better part of Valor.

These are ways tragic. It sucks what war does to people.
It's sad and unfortunate what war does to anyone involved, military or civilian, and on either side.

But it's dishonorable and disgusting what is done to the Veterans that served their fellow citizens and their country, only to be shit on by that public and it's public servants, IF they even manage to return home alive....
😡

Overheard in a VA hospital waiting room with a long line.

Sung quietly over and over to the 'row your boat' tune:

Roll, roll, roll a joint,
take a hit of wine,

Tell the world to go to hell,
cause everything is fine...

Arrogant cops overreacting it sounds like. Would be nice to see a video of the encounter. There are less incidents like this now due to people recording with phones but still too many.

He's homeless, unlikely to have a cellphone, and easy to abuse.

Cops are better behaved when dealing with taxpayers armed with video capable smart phones.

Not all of us. One way or the other, people get the same conduct from me. If they FAAFO, and it's necessary and legal, the camera doesn't matter.

Hell most cops wear recording devices now anyway.

Then where is the cop video of that Vet's arrest???

I wasn't making a sweeping generalization necessarily, but even when I was a LEO in the dark ages, they didn't treat homeless people the same as everyone else.

I've had varying experiences with them. The VAST majority of the homeless suffer from mental illness. Sometimes that presents as kind or child like. Other times they become very violent in the blink of an eye.

And it's probably in the same place that the cops vid on Pelosi's husbands DUI arrest is.... 🙄

That would require a conspiracy involving the leadership of that law enforcement agency. The videos aren't easy to delete and even when they're deleted, they aren't really deleted.

To your point, could Pelosi make a video disappear in her California district?

Abso-freaking-lutely. Could a cop do that? No chance.

I have always been able to tell a bad cop from a good one by how they treat the homeless and teenagers.

Or how do they behave when no one is looking. True of all of us I suppose.

Remember how Tin Cup said David Sims treated dogs and old people when the cameras weren't on?

It's the new version of the 'Golden Rule.'

Those with the Gold get to make up the rules, or ignore them or change them on their whim.... (Co-V and voting for recent examples)
