TOS is reporting that Gerald Willis has been "reinstated into
school" and will have a meeting about getting back on the football team
next week.

Interesting if true.

He was kicked off the team so it isn't up to him. He's having a meeting with Foley, etc to see if they can work something out. He needs a lot of help with his anger issues. He can't solve his problems by just fighting all the time. Not sure what the school is able to do for him in regards to getting help.

Clearly, Meyer's fault

Clearly, Muschamp taught him to be a thug.

I've already forgotten, but who was the kid who got into it with Muschamp and was told to go home on the bus? Can he come back?

Leon Orr. He was a RS Sr, so he has no eligibility left.

Would have no problem with it assuming McElwain and everyone works it out. Not sure why everybody is so quick to label the guy a 'thug.' He's a defensive lineman, we ask them to beat the hell out of somebody for 60 minutes and then act all sanctimonious if the guy has a little bit of trouble turning the switch on and off? He's young and immature, people tend to learn and grow out of certain things. Give the man some discipline, if he doesn't respond then let him go. But I don't think he's done anything outrageous enough to be a lost cause.

He's got into fights with 2 of our own players and got after a coach on staff Percy Harvin style. He's got a lot of issues that need to be resolved. I'm pulling for him to get himself under control, but if I was a betting man I'm not expecting this to end good. I hope he proves me wrong.

At least Mac is willing to give another chance. He hasn't been arrested and he's in good academic standing it seems, and if he's trying to get back on the team when a lot of schools would take him no questions asked, then why not give him a chance?

It definitely beats our "get lost" system under Muschamp.

It wasn't Mac's decision to kick him off and it won't be Mac's decision on if he gets re-instated to the team.

The head coach has no say so on if he even wants him back? I assume that in some way the university had already started the paperwork process of removing him from the team. There's nothing legally saying that the team has to take him back is there?

Of course Mac has a say/opinion, but he's not the one making the final call on this one.

And you know this....how? And from whom? And who is making the decision?

He has been readmitted to school, so that decision has been made by UF Administrators. By all accounts he is a good student.

The only other person with a say so about the eligibility of football players based on past punitive actions is Jeremy Foley. So, if that is who you "think" might a person besides Mac that might make the final decision, then thank you Captain Obvious.

Last I checked we're paying about 5 mil a year for Mac to be here so I think his opinion will determine what decision is made.

What kind of AD would undercut a coach that he just hired on a decision like this before he's even held a practice? ....oh wait nevermind.

I hear "Rocky" music in the background.

@LSU_Logo Gerald Willis' family called Miles about transferring to LSU, Miles turned him down, according to Derek Ponamsky

I am sure they will do what the head coach wants in this situation if he has been reinstated to school. One plus in his favor is McElwain wasn't here during the prior things. Hopefully he can get his act together and help the team.

If this kid comes back and if it's Mac's total decision is probably a much bigger deal to you than it is internally. It sounds like a big issue before Mac got there and sounds line administration and the AD will make that call...I would agree with that. However if the kid can make some changes and we keep him that would be a win win. Not worried because I'm expecting our biggest change being 3 years from now ....that's just where I think that we are...anything sooner will be awesome. Go Gators!

Well it looks like what I suspected has already come to fruition. He just can't stay out of trouble.

He should be having his appeal meeting about now. Did he get rejected or did he actually do something again?
