What a great team this is. Houston played their game and the Gators still won.
In the post game shots he looked young enough to be on the team. 😂So I guess Golden is the youngest coach to win the tournament in the last 42 years...
Youngest since Valvano who win it in 83 and he was 37 years oldSo I guess Golden is the youngest coach to win the tournament in the last 42 years...
Other than Clayton who is a superstar, we still have 6 guys who grade out at A minuses. That is a HUGE advantage and we flat out wore out other teams with massive depth, including a bunch of B + bench warmers. That kind of depth wears out other teams when you push the ball up the court at mach 1 the entire game. The results are in!Tremendous resilience and defense. A reflection of our coach and the quality team he put together.
Ocalaman, I hope you don't mind me bringing your post here.Totally disagree. The Technical foul was justified. You can't do what he did and Coach Golden never protested it. The officials let them bang each other the first half and then started calling evrything the second half. We adjusted better to the refs than they did. Houston was called for 19 fouls, Florida 11. We were 17-21 from the free throw line, they were 9-14. To call out the refs is STUPID!. We won the game at the free trow line and are national champs and we did it playing Houston's style of play. Quit bashing the refs and just appreciate the fact that the Gators are national champs!!!
That's fine. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. I love Gov. DeSantis. Over the entire game, the refs called a fair game and Florida benefitted by that. But to each his own. I know for a fact that the Gators are the national champs and the expert panel on CBS said we won the game at the foul line by adjusting better to the refs in the 2nd half than Houston did. 19 fouls on them, 11 on us. If the governor and others think that proves the refs favored them over us, I'll say OK, but it don't make sense to me. Facts don't lie.Ocalaman, I hope you don't mind me bringing your post here.
What up, Fevered Brain! Err, @Gator Fever
Yeah, it's all over now, so I'm just having fun with these tweets. That's fine. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. I love Gov. DeSantis. It's GREAT to be a Florida Gator. We led this game for a total of 1:03 and yet had the lead when the clock ran out. That's all that matters. Tremendous coaching job by Todd Golden and great buy-in from this group of players.
He can have whatever he wants, he's a made man now at a basketball royalty school. This Final Four and National Championship is starting to put us up in that blue blood tier now I don't give a shit what anyone says.. We've been the Flagship of the SEC in basketball for this century. Kentucky has won 1 single championship since 1998.. We now have three in the last 18 years and 6 Final Fours, only a few blue bloods have as many wins in the tourney than us in the last 25 years now.Golden signed a contract extension last month to last till 2030.....but hes still 12th in the highest paid coaches in the SEC at 4 million a year.
John Calipari is at 8 million yearly. 10 other coaches are past the 5 million mark.
In order to keep Golden, UF's going to need to open its wallet...and frankly Golden is worth it.
If I were the AD, I would bump it to 6.5 million yearly.

Since 1999 we have as many Championships as Duke and North Carolina and more than Kansas and Villanova.
Three Championships
Four Final Game Appearances
Five Final Fours (7-2 in such games)
Nine Elite Eights
13-3 against top three seeds
Won the best conference ever
