"If you are Alabama and find yourself obliged to play a little game in the Georgia Dome this weekend, all the challenges lie within.

You have had study halls more dangerous than Saturday’s SEC Championship match-up with Florida. For the Crimson Tide, on the scale of difficulties facing the modern collegian, the Gators rank somewhere between finding space in any 7 a.m. class and locking down the fake ID.

You are Alabama and you possess the statistically best defense in America. Florida can barely fog a mirror when it has the ball. Oddsmakers thus far have established the Tide as a 24-point favorite, an absurdly vast spread for a conference championship game. And, yet, to get anyone to bet the Gators, the books they may have to offer further inducements, like throwing in a complimentary drink and two show tickets.

If you are Alabama, why would you waste a single moment of preparation this week for anything Florida does? The Gator game plan is irrelevant. It is impossible to foresee the same team that just got run over by an ordinary-as-sausage-gravy Florida State devising something this week that would cause Alabama even polite concern.

Do not watch a minute of Gator game video, ‘Bama. Or risk infecting the players and the coaching staff with an over-confidence bordering on indifference. Better to loosen up the troops, maybe conduct a little Adam Sandler film festival in the meeting room this week.

Rather, concentrate on your own stuff. It’s all about you, ‘Bama. If you and your freshman quarterback do not get reckless with the ball, this one already is all powdered and swaddled and safe. Florida is only a factor if the Tide allows.

A couple more pieces of unsolicited advice for the visitors from Tuscaloosa for this purely ceremonial SEC Championship:

Get those No. 3s on the depth chart plenty of practice time this week. The fourth quarter Saturday could be theirs.

Even if the unfathomable happens and you do lose Saturday, chances are good you’re still in the playoff. So, above all, stay healthy, fellas.

Even bring your second-level fans to Atlanta this weekend, the more sober, more polite, more compassionate ones. Reserve the most obnoxious for the national semi-final game back here on Dec. 31, when their venom might be needed."

Seeing a lot of stuff like this written lately. You just hope it isn't affecting the recruits much. Despite winning the SEC East we are the laughing stock of college football going into this weeks games due to the horrific offense - the same offense that ESPN is reminding people on their ticker now has the 3rd fewest offensive TDs in power 5 conference football. I wonder who are the 2 behind us? Maybe SC but who else - Some joke Big 10 team possibly. You turn on the SEC Channel and they constantly laugh about our offense while hardly mentioning the bad seasons of Tennessee etc. It is a crazy situation and combined with Mac's poor recruiting skills is probably a death blow for winning the SEC anytime soon.

Probably Rutgers as the other. But yes, this publicity is KILLING us, especially in recruiting

I haven't really followed Florida Football since the Tebow days, but I've heard a lot about the offensive struggles this season. What was the talent level of the offensive skill players when Mac took the job? I'm assuming Muschamp focused more on defense in recruiting, so I'm wondering if Mac just needs more time to get his own players in the offense.

Sounds like a Gator beat writer wishfully hoping Bama overlooks UF.... in fact saying Bama should do just that

..... which of course Satan won't do, he prepares for every game as if he hadn't already sold his soul

We have some blue chipper recruit skill players and a young line that has some talent on it. No excuse for our offense to be # 114 still. Our coach is partly to blame imo for not starting one of the young QBs to get them experience. LDR is just too limited for SEC play.

Thanks for the info. I guess Grier getting suspended didn't help either.

The whole college football world would rejoice...Alabama has been seen as a monopoly in football...hoarding talent. stringing wins together like beads on a necklace.

Just for the record, UF was a 24 point favorite in the 1995 SEC-C game and won that game 34 - 3.

Recruits, come to UF and join the World-Wide Gator Nation network, and help put the Gators back on the map. Plenty of reasons to come be a Gator.

If you're any good, you'll get lots of early playing time and UF has a very long record of sending players on to the NFL, regardless of their W/L record in any given season. There are 49 Gators currently on NFL rosters for example.

What in the world does the 1995 SECCG against Arkansas have to do with anything?

24 point favorites and we won by 31?

And...?

Pretty weak sauce really.

We get it. Self deprecating humor, but it comes across flat, even tongue in cheek.

Don't have a game plan of Appleby waiting to take sacks, play to win. They are a better team right now, but there is only so far I feel like going with this respect ten other team crap.

Everyone seems to post or discuss with this horror that they will get mocked should the sabans win big.

WGAS.

With the seemingly required nod that they have a better team and could possibly win big, they are not 1995 Nebraska...so, play hard, don't wait to be sacked, and have our big fast kids capable of bench pressing 400 pound figuratively punch their similar kids in the face...and see what happens.

As Steven Colbert said...waiting around to take shit is great...if you are a pussy.

Appleby doesnt have time most plays because Mac doesnt help the tackles out many times and Scarlett is lost when it comes to blocking and just walks up to the LOS area while blitzers run free from either side to the QB.

We are not playing this Saturday if we did that, imo.

Hum. Seems to me I read almost the same exact article prior to your game @ LSU. The game you won in their house against a team that gave Bama all they wanted at their house. Not that I am saying I expect the Gators to win, but stranger things have happened.

o_O When/if you sober back up, then pay a pseudo-friend to explain what it means...
Or better yet, go back to not reading or responding to anything that I post.
You're an ugly cross between a flea and a leech, when you're not being a roach.

Why go back to 1995 when you can just go back to last weekend? Louisville -26.5 vs Kentucky. I don't expect the Gators to win and they very well might get absolutely smoked, but you never know. One thing I do know is that anybody not a bama fan will be rooting hard for you this weekend. I would love to see you pull off the upset of the year.

Man, if we somehow find a way to win this game...holy shit...

If UF can score some points, such as on special teams or from turnovers, this could happen. Afterall, Bama struggled to score against LSU. UF's real issue will be its ability to score against Bama.

Assuming UF wins, what happens? UF with 3 losses still probably doesn't make the playoff. Bama with 1 loss would be on a par with other 1 loss teams like Clemson, Washington, and Ohio State, but obviously would not be the conference champion. Does the Committee take a Wisconsin-Penn State winner over a 1-loss Bama? Probably not, so win or lose, Bama is in.
Which just goes to reiterate that this may be the least meaningful SEC CCG in a long time.

Oh, I see.

You can't explain yourself.

Good deal.

More irrelevant nonsense posed as clever relativism.

insta called Danny a bass guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, an elite offensive mind and some good smoke all in one post... im impressed

The margin by which bama skull stomps Florida will depend on whether saban has any sentimental feelings for mac-nuss.

They can win by any margin they choose.....

Let me poit out soNothing

I just danced with a short fat girl to a black man singing Man of Constant Sorrow.

It can happen.

It would be right there with that huge upset Stanford had over USC when they were so good and with App State winning at Michigan that year.
The money line was 80/1 on that Stanford/SoCal game. I wonder what it is for this one?

49?? That number seems pretty high. You sure that's accurate?? Last one I saw was LSU was first with 42 and FSU was 2nd with 36. I didn't even see uf in the top 10. Let me check out your link, maybe mine is wrong.

We want UF to win Saturday. We would then get another SEC title. You know, since we beat you. LMAO

You will be sitting on your coach, along with your team, watching big boy football.

Which getting to be a habit for a Fisher coached team.

But hey, as long as Fisher can beat Florida, all is right in Nole world

lol fsu can't even win their division or play in their conference game and have to live off of beating our 5th string team, daddy is so proud of you. Thats my daughter in the water

Oh, we'll win titles again as we do, but you're right about one thing sorta, beating the crap out of UF each year does make it a sweeter year. BTW, best of luck against Bama, we need another SEC title to add to our earlier ones in the 90s!

PS You and your fans would give your left testicle for Jimbo to be your coach. Or is it your right one? If you have any.
