UF wins their season opener in Ft. Collins, CO, beating a very good Colorado St. team 3-1 (25-21, 25-21, 24-26, 25-11). Superstar Kennedy Martin had to be helped off the floor in the 3rd set with an ankle injury and they are still without their AA setter, Alexis Stuckey. But the Gators are 1-0 with a match tomorrow vs. Northern Colorado.

We seem to be snakebit with the injuries in soccer and volleyball.

Gators finished their road trip to Colorado undefeated, neating Michigan State in straight sets Sundy by scores of 26-24, 25-18 and 25-17. Still playing without 5 key players who are hurt, Mary Wise used a makeshift lineup and rotations, getting quality playing time from a lot of players who otherwise might not have played much. Building depth, teamwork and experience while still winning.
Hopefully we get some of our injury ladies back real soon. At home for the next 3 matches - USF of Friday at 7 pm, Southern Indiana Saturday at 4 pm, then Ohio State Sunday at 4 pm on ESPN2!!!

Ocala, any timeline on when we will get some of these players back??
I'm asking a couple of people more in the know that me and will share when I get answers. I did hear over the weekend that Stuckey is practicing some and should be back for conference play, if not sooner.

Mary Wise just gets the best effort out of the team she's got. Always has, always will. My all time favorite Gator coach. Completely healthy, this team can win the national championship. They are 5 starters short right now and still giving it all they've got. Love this team.

She's been so incredibly consistent at Florida. Good win. Repeating myself, but I hope some of these gals get healthy soon!!

Gators sweep Buffalo 25-15, 25-9, 25-16 Sunday afternoon on the SEC Network. This team is just so much better with Alexis Stuckey on the floor as setter. They led the SEC in hitting % with freshman Taylor Parks in that role, but Alexis just takes them to aqnother level. Gabby Essix missed her 2nd match in a row and I wonder if her leg problems have recurred. Kennedy Martin continued her streak of double digit kills in every game she's played as a Gator with 12 today, hitting .526. Florida had 41 kills, 32 of them on assists from Stuckey. 11 aces against 6 errors is the best they've served in a while. Jaela Auguste was solid with 5 kills, 3 blocks and hit .500. Elli McKissock had 15 digs, Stuckey had 6, Izzy Martin had 6, along with 7 kills, 2 blocks and 2 aces. Fitzpatrick had 8 kills and 2 blocks and hit .438. And Emily Canaan's service streak in set #2 was incredible. The Gators scored 14 straight points and she had 5 aces during that stretch. Just a dominating match for 9-2 Florida, who goes to Oklahoma to open SEC play on Thursday.

We lost power at 8:05 pm, just as the 2nd set vs. Oklahoma was ending. Didn;t get power back until 6 pm Friday. Missed a great Gator comeback. UF is still rusty from all of their players getting used to working together again and they'll need to play better to beat Kentucky on Sunday, but any SEC road win in any sport is special. Goo Gators!!

Good opening W

Gators got blitzed by Texas at home Sunday. We're just not the elite team everybody thought we would be this year. 2 major players lost for the year to injury, our AA setter just returning to the .lineup after a year long rehab from major knee surgery (and she's still not at full strength) and a senior middle blocker who has only played 1 game so far and not even able to practice right now. Too bad.

Gators sweep LSU Sunday on ESPN2, winning 25-10, 25-18, 25-17. Dominant performace by Mary Wise' team. After getting upset at home last weekend by South Carolina, they went on the road this weekand swept Texas A&M and LSU. Today, the team hit .367 with 36 kills and only 7 attack errors. 8 service aces (5 by Emily Canaan) and only 7 service errors to LSU's 12. 6 blocks on the day with 76.6% side out to LSU's 46.6%. Ellie McKissock had 14 digs, 17 more for the rest of the team, and the frontline all played efficiently. Stuckey finished with 31 assists. Maybe they're finally jelling like we all though they could/would. Gators are now 13-5, 4-3 in the SEC, with a match hosting Tennessee on Friday, 7 pm on the SEC Network, then at Arkansas the followig Wednesday at 8 pm on the SEC Network. Gooo Gators!!
