Games this week...

Any chance Ole Miss backdoors into the CFP by not playing in the SECCG? Many possible scenarios but it could happen if they don't lose anymore games.
It could happen as Ole Miss would have a good argument to maybe go over a 1 loss Pitt or Wake Forest ACC champion though I doubt either one even ends up with just one loss. Cincy would have to lose also while Oregon would need to lose another game and only the SECCG winner could make the playoff. Georgia would probably have to win out through the SECCG or get upset prior to the SECCG.

I would pick Texas A&M to beat Ole Miss right now. But even if they do run the table and Alabama wins out to win the West, it would take several other things to happen for the Rebels to make the 4-team playoff IMO.
1. Georgia would have to beat Alabama to knock them completely out because if Bama beats an undefeated Georgia in a relatively close game in Atlanta, I see both of those teams making the playoffs.
2. Cincinnati needs to lose a game somewhere along the way. If they go undefeated I think this is the year a non-P5 team makes the playoffs. And SMU is the only team left on their schedule that I think has even a chance of beating them.
3. Oregon will need to lose another game because if they go 12-1, they'll be in for sure.
4. Oklahoma needs to lose once and maybe twice. If they are undefeated they're in regardless. But even if they lose a game during the regular season and then win the Big 12 title game, they would probably get the nod at 12-1 over Ole Miss at 11-1.
5. The Big 10 is almost assuredly getting a team in the playoffs. Either Michigan or Michigan State will be undefeated after Saturday and Ohio State plays them both. Assuming a 1-loss Iowa wins the Big 10 West and whoever emerges from the Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State round robin is either undefeated or with 1 loss, the winner of the Big 10 title game will get a playoff bid for sure. The only way they get left out this year, IMO, is if the Big 10 champ has 2 losses and I don't see that happening.
6. The ACC has a good chance of being left out this year. If Wake Forest goes undefeated and sits at 13-0 on Selection Saturday, maybe they get in.
So a lot of things need to happen to get Ole Miss in. Possible, but not probable. My guess right now for the playoffs would be: SEC winner, Cincinnati, Big Ten Champ and either Oklahoma or Oregon.

If Bama gets in the playoff with a win and gets shut out with a loss, and UGa is in either way, the Dwags are effed in the SECCG. No way the refs call that game anywhere near fair.

If uga loses to bama, there’s no way they should get in. Their best win would be Kentucky. They played one team that matches up with them and lost. This is the easiest non f$u schedule I’ve ever seen. If they lose at all they should be eliminated.

If Georgia's only loss is to a 1 loss Alabama, they both will get in. Believe it.

This is the only realistic scenario (No undefeated Wake Forest) that an undefeated Georgia losing to a 1 loss Bama in the SECCG would keep them out of the playoff for sure imo.

1 loss or better Big 10 champ
1 loss Oregon
Undefeated Oklahoma

If the Big 12 champ has 1 loss with those other 2 things its going to be really close whether they do the right thing and let the conference champion in.

Not doubting that you’re right. I still think with a schedule that easy you should get dinged for losing your only tough game. .

Just watching the committee over these playoff years its the strength of your wins that is the most important I think (besides record) and they are supposed to give a little credit for winning your conference.

I will say if KY does lose another game or two that a 1 loss Big 12 champ would have an even better argument to go over them. I do want to see the committee explain that one if the Big 12 champion wins resume is better. They will probably spout some BS about how they controlled games or had the best loss while in the other years best loss never overcame the wins resume.
