LDR is even worse than him however. We better hope one of those 2 young guys can play next season. Hopefully LDR moves on so Mac doesn't have that option.

Iowa needs to put Stanley in otherwise the game will come down to Akrum Wadley running. Beatherd can't plant a bum leg and expect to thread passes. Not gonna happen.

How about we put the weaknesses that the two mentioned on the two you mentioned.
Do the coaches get credit for Scareltt's nice run? Or only the blame for his poor blocking?

In fairness Iowa is slower than slow and with that said 5 guys missed tackles. Put him in against Michigan next year or Bama and its different. But he scored and anytime we do that it is worth celebrating
Scarlett's run was easy watching it once he initially got free but he is a load.
As far as blocking those are the 2 that literally look blind out there many times and just let rushers go free to the QB while reacting 2 seconds late.
One nice thing if UF wins today...it will be the nail in the Big 10 post season coffin! Nebraska, OSU, Michigan, Indiana, Maryland, [Iowa] would all have losses. Minn, NW, and possibly Wisconsin would be the conference's "crown jewels." LOL

100% agree they are slow. I thought for a second I was watching ESPN Classic. Between the speed of the game and all the white players in Iowa's sideline huddle.
But Thompson is what he is. A situational player. Deserving of a ship and occasional playing time.
Not too many teams or players from many teams are going to do much on Bama. LSU couldn't, UGA couldn't, Auburn couldn't, USCal couldn't.
Iowa does look slow- I wonder what that says about Michigan because they looked fast against them when I watched that game.
Let me rephrase what I said....Nick Chubb, Sony Michel, Leonard Fournete, Guice, all NFL prospect's couldn't do much vs Bama. So saying Mark Thompson doesn't deserve a scholarship because he couldn't break one like that vs Bama really isn't a fair comparison.
I don't disagree, a couple touches a game. I wouldn't complain about him being on scholarship unless we somehow landed four Scarlett types.
Shannon deserves the job..What a job he has done without his 2nd,3rd and 4th leading tacklers out..
Perine is not up to the status of Scareltt just yet but LP had a better true frosh season vs Scarlett true frosh season. Maybe this new recruit will be the third complete RB...So 3 out of 4 ain't bad.
I wouldn't take tooo much from this game. I wouldn't be mad if Shannon got it but before today he hadnt called a game in nearly a decade and offenses have changed so much since then. Plus iowa's offense is worse than ours and has a very conservative, vanilla system so even with injuries we can play downhill against them.
Great way to come back from a slow start.
