Frost to...

Sure.

But you don’t hire a new coach when you haven’t even fired yours yet.

So all this “it’s a done deal” stuff is silly.

Technicality. People change, and life throws us curveballs. But based on Scott applying for a coaching gig at NU twice before and now being offered the position of the head spot, I cannot imagine him turning it down.

Money is no object. At either Nebraska or Florida, both schools use money to scrub toilets, so its going to come down to something else.

I'm not sure a loving wife would keep her husband from his words: "dream job".

Scott being from Nebraska, the reigning champion QB for the Cornhuskers, and his use of the option to boot, he will get a lot of leeway from the boosters and fans. He will get 7+ years here regardless of a conference championship. I'm really not sure Florida will be that tolerant. Florida is hiring a gun and Nebraska is hiring a son.

Lets say SF decides to take up UF, then goes on to a 7-4 type of record 3 years in a row in the meat grinder of the SEC, does he quit or is he fired?

Nebraska is not a very good back up plan. The B10 West is essentially beat Wisconsin and you go to the CCG. Any coach with a pulse could make it there. Pelini made it there and he's a DB defensive coach getting all he wants right now at Youngstown. Nebraska wont be open if he fails at Florida.

This is his shot at Nebraska where he's dreamed of coaching.

Its not a done deal, but Nebraska is going to give him the moon if signs on that line.

apparently we don't have enough money to even clean the toilets, or we wouldn't STILL be this bad and still striking out apparently...

I have doubts that it's a done deal as well. However, when NU AD Moos was at Washington State, he had agreed with terms to hire Leach before Wulff was fired. Less than 24 hours after Wulff was canned, the hiring of Leach was publically announced.

When Riley is fired, things obviously won't move THAT quickly, but it's something to keep in mind.

it's probably stay at UCF or Nebraska

your AD has made this search way too public and the Spurrier side show might have hurt things with Chip Kelly

He's not staying at UCF, that is the only 100% certainty in this.

What a terrible ass take.

Scott is a good risk hire, I think he's N, but life changes and people change so he may end up at UF. I hope he's successful no matter where he ends up. He's a solid guy.

I like Frost and strongly believe he will be coaching nebraska next year. But demographic shifts makes it harder to win titles at nebraska

You can nix Frost because he is going home to Nebraska and you can nix Campbell due to his crazy buyout. I hope they have enough sense to not consider hiring Mullen or Strong either.

Not here to flame or toss grenades. Reporters who are extremely connected to Nebraska athletics have been saying for the last week that Frost will be the next Head Coach at Nebraska. Reports of Frost meeting with Florida are not accurate.

I think Florida will have to move on to another guy. Hey USC got a guy in their 3rd choice that brought them 3 national championships, don't be discouraged.

While that might end up being correct, 'show me the signed contract.'

Consoling UF fans before it is even announced? I remember Neb running all over Uf in the '95 title game, but that was a couple decades ago. Are you all really this confident UF will strike out with both Kelly and Frost? If so, reminds me of when a similar thing happened to Foley and they finally settled on Zook. I still think UF has a shot at Kelly and surely Frost should be on board if the first option collapses.

Yep, it's tough to hire a coach to go against the rest of the SEC and FSU on an annual basis. But it's a cake walk at both UCLA and Neb, where winning 7-8 games yearly for close to the same money will keep you employed indefinitely. o_O

UF is still searching for a decent coach that has a pair, but they are having the usual trouble finding the right guy,,, with the right equipment to get the job done.

Kelly has already chosen UCLA and yes Frost will be the next HC at Nebraska. This isn't a slap to UF or you but more of a reflection of individual coaches doing what they want for themselves. Kelly likes the west coast and Frost is from Nebraska and its home for him. Its not a dig at UF or you.

I mostly agree with that. Some coaches are looking at a Top school to challenge their ability to win NC's, while other coaches are just looking for a soft nest to settle done and get by at...

We already know which the cow-Chip is, but we're still waiting to see about Scottie. He may beg the valley of the corn to beam him up, instead of taking the SEC challenge. Some few have got what it takes, while many others never will... o_O

Yes that's is, they're all afraid to compete in the mighty SEC East. The same division that was rated the worst in all of Power 5 just a year ago and has half the teams in it this year not going to a bowl game. Brilliant analysis as per usual.

Nebraska must already know who there coach is because they fired all the asst coaches too.Dont think they would fire them with recruiting going on,unless new coach has his own group to bring in.[/QUOTE

2 best recruiters NU hopes to retain but AD Moos already stated he hires HCs and HCs hire their own assistants.

Frost will be good there. Might compete for some conference titles but I doubt he'll ever go beyond that at Nebraska. If he wanted a chance at the brass ring, he would have chosen Florida.

Guy would probably be considered a radical by our admin!

Only one guy was retained probably to keep up with the day to days, Moos cleaned house.

Whoever the next coach is will get to pick it all.

Funny thing about Nebraska is that folks seemed to think Nebraska's glory days were behind them after Devaney and would never get a NC with a Power I and option offense. Until it happened multiple times...
